Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Aroma of malt and banana. Light brown and cloudy. Heavily carbonated. Small but thick head. Flavor of malt, and it is a powerful flavor. Also some herbal and acidic flavors. Not simple, but not quite complex. Thick and heavy. Good stuff.

Pours a reddish pale amber body woth a thick creamy white head. Aroma of fruits, caramel, spices and bubble-gum. Very good flavor of fruits, spices, caramel and bubble-gum, there’s a slightly tart finish. The body is medium with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Another solid beer from Ommegang.

This brew is a luminous orange/amber color with a medium off-white head. Thin and sticky lacing. The aroma is lightly spiced and fruity, along with some yeast. Medium-bodied with peach, yeast, wheat and spice flavors. The finish is dry and fruity, with sweet malt peeking through. Pretty solid through and through.

Bottle: Cloudy caramel, moderate to large foamy off-white head, nice lacing.   Marmalade on the nose... thats a first.   Soft floral aspects otherwise.   Pale yeasty start, not as flavorful as I would have thought.   Very minor marmalde and floral aspects, very minor.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Slightly dry, a bit sticky on the aftertaste.   Tiz okay, but needs to be a bit stronger me thinks.   Thanks Jordan for the bottle!

Cloudy golden-orange with a very small off-white head. Initial candied fruits taste turns into orange and tropical juice flavours as the beer warms up. Faint coriander flavour coming from the rather yeasty body. Sweet beer, more than it should be. Some leafy hops with mild-medium bitterness. Aggressive carbonation makes the beer feel more spicy that it really is. Something about the hops makes it feel half american half belgian. Nothing special really. Ommegang have far superior product. Very neutral multi-purpose beer that can always become handy, worth keeping around, always useful to have a Spare Vos.

750, corked and baled. God, this is just a pleasant, easy-drinking Belgian with tight, refreshing tiny carbonation. Ultra-sessionable. Pours a slightly hazy medium amber with a thin tannish head that’s equal parts cream and fizz. Decent sheets of lace sweeping down the sides of the glass like an eggwash. The nose has a nice grain husk note to it, along with some slightly funky yeast and dust. Nice lightish body with soft tight tiny carb--very refreshing but still understated. Perfect balance that way. A little bit of orange tartness on the mid-palate, along with some soft grainy nuttiness. I wish this beer cost a bit less so I could just murder it by the case.

Citrus, yeast and malt aroma. Has the appearance of unpasteurized honey, with a medium sized vanilla custard head, plenty of lace. Tastes of apricots, plums, and raisins. Complex, full bodied, wonderful mouth feel. A Lovely Belgian!

Clear copper color with off white head. The aroma is spicy and slightly fruity and is a bit on the mild side. Flavor starts off sweet from sugars or malt then turns a bit fruity (like grapes maybe) then some spiciness makes for a crisp mid flavor note. I also get some lemon tartness that begins about midway and proceeds to the finish where it’s joined by a sweet brown sugar flavor.
