Rare Vos is Flemish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

I can drink this year round. A treat to find at any bar or restaurant. I am usually looking for a new beer that I have never tasted. But when I find Rare Vos, I take it.

Bottle from a Lazy dog. slightly hazy medium golden color with a huge bubbly frothy off white head that takes forever to recede. Clove and spice lay heavy on the nose with some faint bready maltiness. The flavor is sweet bready malt light earthy big clove and peppery spice. Well made beer, but its a bit heavy on the clove and spice for my tastes.

Nice tart aromas of apricot and yeast. A little barnyard. Pours red brown and clear with an off-white head with tiny bubbles. Nice sour favors of leather and licorice. Short sour finish and good fizzy mouthfeel. Pretty balanced.

12 oz bottle- Pours hazy orange with a large tight nit bubble head that holds nicely. Aroma is banana, spice, cream. The taste is similar, banana, yeasty, peppery spice, smooth, lightly bitter and lingering dryness. Good beer.

Love the serving directions on the bottle...they should also mention stemware....smell is dark fruity notes...taste is the same, sweet but not too much...light alcohol burn..medium diverse flavor with light spice...lighter mouthfeel than others in this class

This is a decent Belgian. A nice aroma with the traditional yeasty notes. Malty and a little sweet with some dark fruits.

Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Uptown. Pours hazy amber-orange with a large beige head. Aroma of banana, bubblegum, cherry, peach. Flavor is thinner than I expected... tangy metal, yeasty, little fruit notes (unlike the nose), grasses. Meh. Had potential.

BBD 11/20/16. Clear copper pour when decanted. Massive world class head volume, lacing and retention. Quite outstanding nose of light airy soft fruit (pear, apple, plum) with a touch of clove underneath over a base of grainy biscuit with a touch of caramel, subtly sweet. Almost heavy medium body that is quite smooth and slightly slick. Superb carbonation / body balance with a mildly effervescent middle and a slightly prickly finish. The flavor profile is outstanding. As it warms, clove becomes quite pronounced. Otherwise, it is subtly sweet with light fruit notes that shine from the slightly sweet middle on. True bitterness is functionally absent with a spicy mix (clove, nutmeg, pepper) taking its place. Underneath is a subtle grainy base that delivers just enough sweetness to balance but not obscure. The finish is a slow fade of spices that is subtly sweet.

This is a wonderful beer. Poured into a chalice. Appearance is reddish - orange with a nice fluffy cream head that remains throughout. Aroma is a bouquet of some spice, maybe cloves or coriander, and orange peel or fruit with some slightly malty tones as well. The taste is slightly spicy with a mild yeast and malt flavor. There is definitely some fruit in the taste as well, maybe orange but not overpowering. Very little alcohol in the aroma and taste but the feel is creamy and carbonated. Sweet with a slightly dry finish. Very easy to drink. Makes a great session beer.
