jhumphries69 (656), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Nov 4, 2007 Draft. Pours a reddish amber tinted with orange and brown, a little bit cloudy, and with a thin off-white head. The aroma was sweet, malty, fruity, and spicy - notes of raisin bread and cinnamon apples. The flavor follows the aroma: cinnamon apples. There are also soft, peppery notes that balance the sweetness. The middle of the tongue picks up a subtle acidity that is refreshing - like the small squeeze of fresh lemon juice one might add to seafood to "brighten" up the flavor. This touch of tartness goes well with the malt flavors and the spices. The finish is short and somewhat dry, with a gentle dose of peppery hops to balance the whole experience. The mouthfeel was tingly with carbonation - and turned creamy after swishing around in the mouth. A very decent abbey-style ale.
RHeastings (218), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2009 Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a light amber color, crystal clear with a white head. The aroma is hard to pin down. It is unmistakably Belgian and full of esters, but there isn’t one that sticks out in particular. Perhaps orange marmalade? Hints of malt come through as the sample warms, along with a very light touch of earthy hops. The palate brings a bready note up front, followed by some esters, and a nicely dry finish. A really nice, if restrained, Belgian ale. Pipper (113), Ohio, USA Jul 3, 2009 Poured into snifter. Pours a semi-cloudy orangey with steady carbonation, quickly disappating off white head. Fruity and very boozy aroma. The aroma is much stronger than the flavor which is flat and smooth. Sweet and bearable but not so hot for me. Way overpriced at $12.99. Rustyham (335), miami, Florida, USA Jul 3, 2009 Delicious- fruity, full of honey and berries. Thick, like a sweeter version of Delirium Nocturnum with a lot more cinnamon. Total Wine and More Ft. Lauderdale. MereLikesBeer (69), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Jun 27, 2009 I shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617 - clearly my drinking/rating buddy. Anyhoo...my second Ommegang, and nothing bad about it. It poured a nice hazy orangy color with a nice thick off white head. It smelled very yeasty - like a bread shop. Tastes amazing!!! I love how fruity it is! It is really carbonated, and super fruity, leaving a juicy sensation in my mouth. A bit of an odd aftertaste, but not enough to put me off too it. Yay for Ommegang! BeerBaron617 (263), Novi, Michigan, USA Jun 27, 2009 Shared this with MereLikesBeer. Poured a hazy dark orange with small offwhite head. This stuff was great, maybe not as good as the abbey ale. I do like the mildness of this beer, I could totally drink this with a hearty meal, or even a dessert. Very good brew. Cheers! BVery (314), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Jun 21, 2009 BOTTLE: amber/orange pour, toffee and spice nose. Dry taste, with Belgian spice and apple. Another winner from Ommegang. Pawola22 (509), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jun 19, 2009 750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber-orange body with a two-finger width, beige, foamy head that dissipates quickly and leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is sweet toffees and caramels with a bit of an apple juice wheat smell. Some peaches, pears, apricots, nuts, toasted cookies, and a light yeasty earth. Flavor starts with some sweeter caramel malts before quickly moving into a peach/pear/apple cider with a touch of toasted toffee. The middle has a bit of earth with plenty of caramel and some nuts before yielding to a moderately fruity bitterness, cider, yeast, toffee finish. Very dry with a moderate lingering bitterness and some lightly toasted toffees, fruit, and a soft earthy spice. Palate is light to medium bodied with a light carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid beer all-around. I like the flavor in that its sweet, but moderately bitter and has a nice spicing/cider tartness. Very enjoyable. curly (412), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 16, 2009 Pours clear amber with a thick beige head. Apple and spicy wheat aroma. Taste is like apple cider but whith more smooth butter and not so much spice.
