fredandboboflo (341), East Setauket, New York, USA May 1, 2008 From Growler. Aroma of a tantalizing concoction of spices, maybe some clove and liquorice in there, never good with naming particular spice notes...fruity notes dash in and out, always too quickly for my nose to name. Sweet malt and spicy/bitter hops take background roles but are noticeable. Flavor lets go of the spices to an extent in favor of a sweet fruit (strawberry-citrus?) generously served over hops. Very, very drinkable, and very, very good.
General_Gao (2374), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jul 26, 2008 750ml bottle. Refined aroma of burnt toffee, pear, and brown sugar. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was off white an reduced quickly to a thin film. There wasn’t much lace to speak of. Light to medium bodied, effervescent, and dry. I tasted toffee, clove, and toasted bread. There was also a splash of white wine. Pretty good stuff. undsioux7 (466), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Jul 25, 2008 On tap. Nice belgian yeast aroma with spice and a bit of orange. Taste is basically the same with a bit of sweet malt coming through. Almost like a saison style. Good stuff. nqualls (17), Tennessee, USA Jul 22, 2008 4 pack of 12 ouncers. Poured a hazy amber color with moderate head. Almost no lacing as I drank it. Aroma was somewhat sweet (maybe banana). Great flavor with a lingering maltiness. Great beer! swanmann (238), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours rich honey color with fluffy off white head. Sweet and spicy aroma, maybe oranges and cardamom. The flavor is exemplary belgian. Sweet and yeast with a mellow bitter bite and adequate carb. It’s very well balanced. Some belgians I’ve had lately are very intense and sweet, but this is a little more mellow. VERY nice. Guinness4Duff (430), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Light amber pour with a big white head. Aroma is sweet, a little fruity and typical belgian. Has a strong fruity/alcoholic/bananaeee flavor. This is a good Belgian beer.
