Scythe & Sickle Harvest Ale is brewed with barley, wheat, oats and rye. Scythe and sickle is a seasonal brew that celebrates the richness of the grain harvest. Brewed with barley, wheat, oats and – in a nod to traditional upstate New York grains – rye, this fine ale is malty and creamy on the palate. The flavors of the grains and earth shine through. Enjoy the refreshment of the season and joys of fine brewing.

12oz bottle poured into a tumbler glass. Hazy amber color with a decent off white head. Herbal aroma, with fruity notes (dried apricots), honey and light caramel. Malty flavors, some tart fruits, lo-med bitterness, faint alcoholic notes and light spiciness. Medium bodied, lively, raw and quite interesting - but only for the first few sips.

Very aromatic: fruity, cloves, and banana. Pours a clear orange with very stable head. Malt body is sweet but tapers off to feature a typical Belgian yeast profile. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A good solid beer. Not my favorite from Ommegang but worth a taste. Drank from a growler. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Moderate straw for the malt, light to moderate herbs and soap for the hops and yeast, with apple, wood, pepper and hints of a fruity liqueur. Head is large, frothy turning rocky, off-white with excellent crust lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy medium amber/orange. Flavor is moderately acidic to start, then finishes faintly sweet, lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively to fizzy carbonation ad a dry. Although a little simple in the flavor up front, this Rye Beer is excellent.

Bottle courtesy of Falco242. Saison aspect in the nose with some dust. Slightly hazy amber body. Thin tan head. Dry palate with a lovely saison-like finish. Remarkably full bodied for a 5.8% ABV beer, defying the laws of beer logic.

Bottle at home. The aroma is strong Belgian yeast, with typical banana and spice notes. The flavor is a harmonious blend of rye spice, yeast, fruit, white pepper and coriander. Has a nice smooth wheat and oat palate, with a crisp and tangy wheaty finish. A lot going on here.
