COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Scythe & Sickle Harvest Ale is brewed with barley, wheat, oats and rye. Scythe and sickle is a seasonal brew that celebrates the richness of the grain harvest. Brewed with barley, wheat, oats and – in a nod to traditional upstate New York grains – rye, this fine ale is malty and creamy on the palate. The flavors of the grains and earth shine through. Enjoy the refreshment of the season and joys of fine brewing.

BOD 7/10/14. Pours a hazy medium amber with an exceptional head, lacing and retention. Nice, but light, nose of sweet malt and Belgian yeast fruit (banana) over a light spice (clove). Almost medium bodied with a nice slick mouthfeel. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescent finish. The flavor profile is a bit complex, superbly balanced and reasonably intense. It begins with an effervescent rush of sweetness - biscuit malt and fruit - that yields to a mild bitterness. As the bitterness fades, rye flavor and it’s associated touch of spice come forward over a slightly phenolic note. The finish is somewhat crisp, a bit dry and the light bitterness lingers over a light sweetness with a clove phenolic note. Quite nice.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Cloudy dark amber with a bubbly 1" off-white head, cobwebs of lace. Solid, robust aroma of grain. Taste is a marvelous combination of grains, caramel, and dry earth that become more bitter as they float smoothly through the palate to a lingering sweet and bitter finish. A truly remarkable brew - highly recommended.

Pours an orangish-yellow with a cm of off-white head. moderate coarseness, diminishes moderately-to-slowly. Aroma is yeast, bit of sweet scone (with a hint of raw sugar) Slight lemongrass. Body is medium-light, watery, with a fine, creamy carbonation. No burn. Flavor is lemon-grass, leafy hops, bit of sap resin, tea? I’m having a surprisingly difficult time isolating the flavor for how big it is. Right up front. I’m going to go with a hint of black tea under a grassy hop flavor... and well infused bitterness. Overall, another very nice offering from Ommegang. Doesn’t stand out to the extent that I would be buying a 4-pack over their other beers, but still great.

Healthy orange, very effervescent and slightly cloudy pour with a few inches of offwhite head. Strong citrus and creamy aroma, zesty rind and belgian yeast aroma, strong lemon, pepper and clove, fresh sawed cedar. Lively carbonation, mouthfeel is lighter and fluffy, dry crisp finish. Taste is overall strong grain and belgian yeast; lemon, peppercorn, grain bill is robust with barley and wheat presence, cantelope, hints of rye. Really nice zesty robust belgian.
