Scythe & Sickle Harvest Ale is brewed with barley, wheat, oats and rye. Scythe and sickle is a seasonal brew that celebrates the richness of the grain harvest. Brewed with barley, wheat, oats and – in a nod to traditional upstate New York grains – rye, this fine ale is malty and creamy on the palate. The flavors of the grains and earth shine through. Enjoy the refreshment of the season and joys of fine brewing.

Pours to a deep chestnut colored body with a super tall lasting foamy off-white head that looked like a Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere when poured. A sexy lacing to boot. The aroma is heavy on the grains. I’d say it’s pretty wheaty with oats and Belgian yeasts like a light banana and pineapple. The flavor is very malty. The rye is first and foremost in the flavor. Some earthy spiced malts and yeasts. Subtle banana. The palate is spicy. Very creamy. I don’t know why they call this an amber ale... Unfortunately, the spicyness on the palate makes it a little harder to drink.

Appearance: this beer takes a while to pour down because the head is huge, dark beige head, the beer is a hazy darker gold to bronze color, head topples over the edge of the rim of the glass Aroma: banana, yeast, maple syrup, light spice, lemon Taste: sweet, maple sugar, butter, very tiny hop bitterness on the finish, Palate: soft carbonation, medium mouthfeel, bitter sweet aftertaste Overall: I'm not usually a fan of this sweet of a beer but I really like it, would be even better in the winter in my opinion, very nice sweet almost smoky sugar flavor, looks amazing too ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Served a hazy copper color with a decent head. Aroma of grain, malt, with a hint of hops. Taste of fresh grain and some malt sweetness. Nice bitterness and clean finish. Moderate body, nice blend of grain with a good earthy feel. Enjoyable beer.

This is a great and somewhat unique beer. Big head and all the grains work together to make a slightly sweet but savory beer.

Pours a hazy more brown than yellow with an off white head that is big bubble that lingers and leaves lacing. The nose is spicy malt. The taste is caramel malt with a layer of spice. Bitter aftertaste that lingers. Another prize from Ommegang!

Pour on tap, hazy orange-amber pour with white head, aroma brought notes of earth, red fruit, some spice, rye notes into a hint of lemon, touch of toasted bread, caramel into a hint of vanilla. Taste was a mix of vanilla, grass, bread into some toast, red fruit, dough, some slight rye comes through, finishing sweet and dry.

Draft at Barrel Republic. Pours hazy amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes fruity, malty, like light herb, citrus hops, and rich oat. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like citrus, fruity, malty, oats,

Pours a very hazy dark orange/brown color with a great head retention. Aroma is hop, rye, biscuit, spice, caramel, fruit, citrus. Taste is malty, rye, biscuit, hops, spice, and caramel with less sweetness than the nose carried. Awesome beer, definitely grain-centric like they were aiming for, love the rye throughout adding spice.
