COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Scythe & Sickle Harvest Ale is brewed with barley, wheat, oats and rye. Scythe and sickle is a seasonal brew that celebrates the richness of the grain harvest. Brewed with barley, wheat, oats and – in a nod to traditional upstate New York grains – rye, this fine ale is malty and creamy on the palate. The flavors of the grains and earth shine through. Enjoy the refreshment of the season and joys of fine brewing.

This is a great beer, one of the best, from a great brewery. The rye spicyness, the tangy wheat, and the smoothness of the oats accentuate each other and are further highlighted by the citrus hops. Great. I’d better get another one before they sell out.

Citrusy flavor. Amber wheat color. Very balanced grains. Belgian slightly sweet/sour yeast flavor. Excellent balanced fall beer. After taste of caramelized marshmellow.

12 oz - Depth, malt, spice carbonation, evolving palate showing each grain’s contribution.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy deep copper with a huge billowy head. Some of the most amazing lacing I have ever seen. Sticks in huge globs on the sides of the glass. Aroma is quite pleasant with lots of peppery spice and some citrus. A little bit of roasted character and some honey. Just the slightest amount of funk. Flavor is quite peppery up front and initially reminds me of a saison. Honey and lemony citrus are pleasant with a light to moderate barnyard funk. Toasted malt is in the background and never really becomes prominent. The yeast esters really contribute a lot to this beer and give it a lot of character. Mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy thanks to the low carbonation. Finish is a touch sticky with a little lingering pepper. Overall, a truly amazing and complex beer. I should have expected this from Ommegang but I am truly impressed. There really is a lot going on in this beer and I encourage everyone to seek it out.

Pours hazy amber with copious head even when careful! Nose full of fruity Belgian yeast. Taste is big, bold, Belgian yeast-fermented heaven. Fruity, thick, gentle malt, mildly floral hops. My absolutely favorite fall seasonal!

I love the spicy yeast aromas that explode from every Ommegang bottle I open. This one does not disappoint! Pours orange amber with a tall lingering tan-white head. Tastes characteristically Belgian... And specifically Ommegang while presenting the malty grain flavors splendidly. I particularly enjoyed the rye which really comes through on the palate. Another incredible beer from an awesome brewery and a fitting ode to the harvest.

Pours a hazy, light amber with quite a bit of head. Smells awesome. Like apples and caramel and cinnamon. Very carbonated. Sweet upfront with a subtle bitterness on the way down. Well balanced and very enjoyable. Will have many more.

Pours orange with a large off-white head. Smells, simply, if barley, wheat, oats, and rye. Taste is a medley of grain flavors, sweet, spicy, and hints of bitterness. Medium bodied, smooth texture, lightly fizzy mouth-carbonation, Ommegang Scythe and Sickle Harvest Ale finishes with a touch of earthy tang.

12 oz. bottle poured into an Brewery Ommegang branded tapered pint glass. Pours a fairly clear cararmel-colored amber with a two finger bright white pillowy head. Everlasting retention and thick, coating lacing. Wonderful nose, rich Belgian yeast, whole-grain biscuit, light spice, and a hint of caramel sweetness. Opens with wheat, oats, freshly harvested grain joined by toffee with just a hint of light butter, rich yeasty esters and hint of light fruit, lightly sweet appleskin specifically, Pleasant light spice and mildly spicy rye. Light to light medium body that feigns heavier at times; pleasant tantalizing carbonation. Slick and silky mouthfeel with a surprising touch of light creaminess. This really is a fantastic brew. So subtlely complex and balanced, a true pleasure to drink. Ommegang adds another amazing beer to an already exceptional lineup of offerings.
