4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A black brew with tan head. Really a lovely chocolate stout mixed with a solid Belgian ale with cherries. Great chocolate and dry hop taste. Very complex. Not overly sweet.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A roasted chocolaty stout meets a lively Belgian ale with light cherry notes.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed a few months after purchase.
The look: Opens with a very loud pop, no gushing, then pours a lack body topped by a large tan head with good retention.
In long: Nose is cacao powder over burnt toasts. In mouth the beer is extremely lively, expansive carbonation pushing the highly roasted malts in all corners of the mouth. Dry cacao powder, strong Belgian yeast presence (even with all that roast and cacao), notes of sweet cherries, a sip of milk-chocolate, a certain peppery spiciness, a slice of black forest cake. Finish brings a coal and/or chalky mouth drying sensation. I canít say I picked up any of the tart cherries advertised in the description. Very easy to drink, this was a rather fun beer, a roasted chocolaty stout with the lively body of a Belgian ale. This is a fun beer Iíll buy again, and to all the ratebeer people I know, letís get our story straight, if my wife ever ask any of you how much craft beer cost, tell her a full case is just under $5.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Chocolate, cherries, and dark fruit greet the nose. Pours a solid brown with a mostly diminishing tan head and minimal lacing. The taste is malt froward but complex. Roasted malts, chocolate, cherries, raisins, and caramel. Full body with medium carbonation. Oveall, complex and very enjoyable. A beer to be savored not quaffed.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Was poured dark brown with a small tan head. Leaves residue at the bottom of the glass. Though definitely chocolate, it did have a smooth sweetness to it, but gratefully not too sweet. Though talking more than concentrating on mouth feel and flavor, I believe I got hints of cherry tartness. Overall an enjoyable beer, but at the pricing point it is at, there are other beers I would always grab first.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This one poured a medium brown color with a beige head. Aroma of slightly burned chocolate, dark fruits, and spicey yeast. Flavor was similar, reminded me a lot of a lighter version of 3 philosophers.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On draft at The Top Gainesville into a small snifter. Pours black with a tiny head. Aroma of sweet candy malt, belgian yeast, maybe a little roast and cherry. Mouthfeel close to a stout with low carbonation. Creamy up front that goes into a cherry flavor that takes over the palate and lasts a bit. Sort of a cherry cordial but not overly sweet. Touch of bitterness keeps things in check. Nicely balanced.
