A BELGIAN LOVE AFFAIR Ommegang Seduction is lovingly brewed with six dark malts. Chocolatier Callebut provides the chocolate, while Liefmans brings the cherries. This international romance is consumated with a full body, alluring aromas and flavors of Belgian chocolate, and tart cherries. Seduction is an ale to be lovingly embraced. Beautiful, rich and smooth, roasty and malty throughout, Seduction offers balanced chocolate-cherry notes, a bit of caramel sweetness, and a long, slow finish. Seduction is welcoming and warm-hearted, gently hopped and harbors no bitterness, leaving only a lingering glow.

draft at Blue Monk, disappointing. dark cola like pour. lighter bodied. feint cherry notes in an otherwise very light weak aroma. Flavor was some cherry, some chocolate, little to no roast. Watery mouthfeel. little complexity. everyone is due for an ocassional let down, i suppose

750 Bottle. Very dark with tan head. Roasted grain nose with some background of chocolate. The flavor was dominated by the Ommegang house yeast. This covered up the faint cherry notes. The cocoa did slip thru along with some dark fruits. Nice silky palate. The yeast flavors stayed all the way to the finish. Too expensive. Great idea of flavors, just not balanced.

750ml corked and caged bottle poured into a Stem Glass at 41°. Color is black with good carbonation and a thick half inch of tan head sitting on top. Aroma is a mild roasted malt scent. It has a full body that gives a lighter mouth feel. Flavor comes in with mellow roasted malt and dark chocolate then the cheery jump out with a nice tartness. In the after taste the cheery hangs on with the tart giving it a dry feel. Overall its a great brew, very complex.

Pours dark brown with a white head. Smells of chocolate, rich spice, roasted malt. Tastes of rich malt, light spice, some belgian character, some smoky hints with a peppery finish.

Snifter at Gallo’s Tap Room on 1/18/12. Black pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, malt, some cherry and banana. Chocolate flavor with banana esters and a cherry finish. Tasty, but could do without the banana.

Poured into a snifter. 4.0 A: Black color. Two fingers of frothy, tan lacing that is creamy in the middle. Retention is good and lots of irregular lacing left. 3.5 S: Super chocolate-ty. The Belgian yeast comes through big time with lots of clove and pepper. Otherwise, this is dry and earthy with a moderate dark fruitiness and a slight roastiness. 3.0 T: Less chocolate-ty than the nose, but there’s still a good presence. Clove and pepper are back, but aren’t as strong either. The roast is a bit stronger though. Light plum fruitiness. 4.0 M: Medium body. Good spritzy carbontion. Good creaminess to go along with it. Good here. 3.5 D: Tasty beer, but fairly average for the style. It could use more intensity or complexity or both. Definitely not worth $14, but give it a try if you’re curious. Nice aroma; reminds me of bing cherries. Very dark smooth. Little but of chocolate smoky after taste. All in all not bad

750ml corked and caged. Dark brown w. smallt head. . Thin body, roasty with hint of cocoa, not getting any cherries here. Cherry and Chocolate combo always sucks me in but then leaves me disappointed. I’ll call this ok but blah. At $13-$15 not the best value either.
