Nice aroma; reminds me of bing cherries. Very dark smooth. Little but of chocolate smoky after taste. All in all not bad

750ml corked and caged. Dark brown w. smallt head. . Thin body, roasty with hint of cocoa, not getting any cherries here. Cherry and Chocolate combo always sucks me in but then leaves me disappointed. I’ll call this ok but blah. At $13-$15 not the best value either.

Draft at J. Clyde Birmingham AL. Poured dark black with a foamy tan head. Nose is yeasty with hints of roastiness and chocolate. Taste is roasty with a hint of Belgian yeast. No sign of fruit. Good but does not turn the world.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is superbly Belgian, dark fruit, malts. Pours very dark with nice tan head. Dark chocolate note on the finish, but nothing too prominent. Well balanced Belgian ale with cherry notes. A little sour on the finish as well. really a true specialty Belgian ale. Tasted @ 56F.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(draft @ Tap and Mallet - Rochester, NY) Deep brown pour with a puffy tan head. Light chocolate aroma with some very subtle fruit hints. Lots of roasted malts. Flavor is mainly chocolate and roasted malts with a mild sweetness at the finish. Rather creamy. Didn’t know there was any fruit in there until I read it honestly.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Jerry’s. Black with decent, creamy, tan head / Mild nose of milk chocolate, cherries, and roast barley / Medium body, creamy, a tad watery, with good balance and dry finish / Mellow, muted, flavors of chocolate, cream, caramel, and cherries / Pleasant enough, but somewhat gimmicky.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of malt, chocolate, Belgian yeast, slight cherries, and roasting. Poured pitch black in color with a large, creamy, dense, tan/brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, chocolate, roasting, light cherry, and Belgian yeast. Medium body. Slick, then lightly chalky, slightly dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Malt, roast, light cherry, chocolate, and Belgian yeast finish is lightly sweet and lightly dry. 6.8%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured into a snifter.
4.0 A: Black color. Two fingers of frothy, tan lacing that is creamy in the middle. Retention is good and lots of irregular lacing left.
3.5 S: Super chocolate-ty. The Belgian yeast comes through big time with lots of clove and pepper. Otherwise, this is dry and earthy with a moderate dark fruitiness and a slight roastiness.
3.0 T: Less chocolate-ty than the nose, but there’s still a good presence. Clove and pepper are back, but aren’t as strong either. The roast is a bit stronger though. Light plum fruitiness.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good spritzy carbontion. Good creaminess to go along with it. Good here.
3.5 D: Tasty beer, but fairly average for the style. It could use more intensity or complexity or both. Definitely not worth $14, but give it a try if you’re curious.
