A BELGIAN LOVE AFFAIR Ommegang Seduction is lovingly brewed with six dark malts. Chocolatier Callebut provides the chocolate, while Liefmans brings the cherries. This international romance is consumated with a full body, alluring aromas and flavors of Belgian chocolate, and tart cherries. Seduction is an ale to be lovingly embraced. Beautiful, rich and smooth, roasty and malty throughout, Seduction offers balanced chocolate-cherry notes, a bit of caramel sweetness, and a long, slow finish. Seduction is welcoming and warm-hearted, gently hopped and harbors no bitterness, leaving only a lingering glow.

Bottle. The pour was a thick dark brown with ruby highlights and a large (2-3 finger) light brown creamy head that was mostly lasting, receding down to a large fluffy cap with excellent sheets of sticky streaky lacing. The aroma was of a roasted chocolate malt, a resin hop and a dark leathery yeast with notes of chocolate, coffee, molasses and a bit of cherry. The taste was malty sweet and mildly bitter with notes of molasses and chocolate from the onset, and then progressed slowly into a more pronounced bitterness with some nice coffee and cherry characteristics. The flavor lasted a nice long while, allowing the chocolate, cherry and coffee flavors to meld together nicely. Mouthfeel was slightly under full in body with a dry creamy texture and an almost medium carbonation. Overall I have to say this brewer has done it again, this time with a fantastic twist on an old style Porter...

Lovely dark black pour with a foamy khaki head. Beautiful nose of sweet milk chocolate and light roasted black malts with a dose of sweet cherries. Smooth and rich and deep flavor that feautures dark roastiness and semisweet chocolate flavors, sweet cherries underneath, no bitterness and a wee bit of smokey black malt. Sweet and complex and just enough cherries to be playful, neither tart or cloying.

"this had the potential to be great, ended up just good. i dug the cherry aspect to the aroma and flavor, slightly tart, slightly sweet. the chocolate was underdone, possibly due to the fact that the belgian yeast was a little too overagressive. kinda thin palate. good flavor and aroma, coulda been great if it was a touch less overwhelmingly belgian"
