Commercial Description:
Three Philosophers is a remarkable limited edition strong ale brewed by Brewery Ommegang in response to a home brewer’s description of his dream beer. Realbeer.com, the internet’s largest beer website, hosted a contest called “Create a Great Beer.” Brewery Ommegang was chosen by Realbeer.com to brew the Belgian-style ale for the winning essayist. Noel Blake, a home brewer from Portland wrote the winning description for what his “dream beer” would be like.

Poured a pale head on top of a tan/cherry body. Aroma was of alcohol masked by caramel. The palate finished with a yeast and touch of cherry which left one with a clean fealing.

Aroma of brown sugar and alcohol.... Caramel in color... Brown sugar and sweet malts dominate the flavor initially but the distinct flavor of cherries predominate towards the finish... Tartness of the cherries linger on the palate long after the last swallow... Very nicely done by ommegang...

Cherry, dark brown. Lots of alcohol. A rating that should have been done awhile ago.

This is a very strong and tasteful beer. Just a little fruity and yeasty for my taste. I tried it at JKO and was already drunk so I may rate again later.

~Pours a dark reddish brown color with diminishing head. ~Fruity yeasty scent, crisp and refreshing. ~Light fruit, bananas, apples, cherries and yeast taste, some spices as well. ~Light feel. Clean sweet finish. ~Good beer. I really like the fact that it is so light and not overbearingly sweet like other Belgian brews that I have tried

Bottle says it was bottled in 2007 and I bought it in 2009. Strong cherries scent with a bit of cherries in the taste as well. The taste was very yeasty but that is to be expected from a quad.
