Aroma is sweet dark fruit, caramel, apple, nuts, and cloves. Maybe a touch of soy sauce. Flavor is led by raisin with a strong molasses flavor, apple, nuts, and caramel. Finishes just like maple sugar candy. I like it, but something just seems a little too much out of balance, maybe a little too richly sweet. Still rather enjoyable. monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA

A small white head gives way to a thin web of film atop a cloudy amber body with red hues. Nice quad aroma (dark fruit, toffee, caramel, etc.) with a sweet abundance of cherries. Slight alcohol presence protrudes as it warms. The flavor is similar for the most part, but brings with it candied sugar, some light alcohol, and a slightly tart cherry finish. The flavor isn’t as bold as the higher rated abt’s, but the cherry lambic adds a nice touch. Medium bodied with very light carbonation. A little on the sweet side, but pleasantly complex. fata2683 (860), Panama City, Florida, USA

Nose of cherries and dried fruits with light chocolate. Taste is cherries, dried fruits, and chocolate, quite sweet without any roastiness whatsoever. A nice creamy finish too, but perhaps slightly syrupy. The flavor is good, very fruity, containing a complex sweetness. Nice color and nice thickness, creamy but slightly crisp. obguthr (1011), Poquoson, Virginia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 16, 2009 The head on this one was awesome. Very alive beer. Nice carbonation and great color. Smells just as good as it tastes. Rich colors and rich taste. Taste like a great Belgian beer with the twist of cherry thrown in. Loved the alcohol finish. Speaking of cherry totally caught me off guard at first! (should have read the label) but loved them. Very strong cherry taste comes through near the end of this delicious beer. 9.8 ABV... oof what a good one. Lots of bread , flavor galore and the head was fizzing like crazy and actually grows which is really cool and gives this one a great personality. Three philosophers = three thumbs up!
