12 oz Bottle. Pours deep brown with reddish hue. Almost burgundy. Solid drinker, but still a Belgian so never going to be one of my top beers. Definitely interesting. Lambic adds distinct sour/ cherry note to brew which works with the banana/clove/spice/ yeasty belgian notes. Definite sweetness in there- toffee, malts and raisins. Tempered by sour cherry and hops. Smooth mouthfeel- not overly carbonated. Nice to sip on. One is plenty. Somewhat boozy.

Definitely a huge Belgian. I've heard the hype before trying it. Good, but not a game changer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Appealing aroma of malt and grass. Clear, very dark brown with a solid tan head cover, wide streaks of lace. Caramel malt and alcohol, both arriving together for a huge taste that moves with assertiveness through a palate where the alcohol is more than enough to balance. A solid sipping ale, needs time to be savored.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Deep burgundy colour, good carbonation, white foam. Interesting aroma, yeast, spicy hop, some booze, hint of cherries. But to be honest the taste is a bit disappointing. Overly boozy. Muddled yeast. Cherries are there, not overpowering, but there is something a bit cloying in there. Can’t quite put my finger on what it is, but there’s just some lightness of touch and balance missing which makes it rather hard work.

Deep red with a good bubbly head, on a gassy beer. Deep, a touch vinous, plenty of body, lightly spiced, berries. A find drop. Boozy, malty, and light spiced aroma. Crisp finish with a light alcohol burn.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2014 Pours a very dark brown with a full head, to the bottom. The lacing was to the bottom as well. Thickly sweet of dark malts, nothing roasted. Deceiving alcohol leaves a little warmth.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Corked and caged 2012 bottle, opened in September 2014. Fire brick red with a moderate amount of yeast particulates floating towards the bottom of the glass. Head is large, grain-brown in color, and mostly diminishing down to a thin, lacy film. Molasses and toffee are the most pronounced in the initial whiff, accompanied by brown sugar, sugared dates, anise, mild tobacco, and baker’s chocolate. Really mellow, malty flavor - cobwebs, dusty straw, mild cocoa, sticky molasses, raisins, and a bit of alcohol at the tail end. I struggle to find much in the way of the Liefmans Kriek that is blended in with this - perhaps at the absolute tail end of the flavor profile there is a hint of tart cherry, but the heavy malts do a good job of reducing it to a quick, chocolate-covered "cherry cordial" candy highlight. Texture is a bit oily with fine carbonation. Very tasty, but I’m not certain that the blending of the kriek did much in the long term.

Very dark amber pour, tan/rose head with no lacing. Flavour is nice, a good sour with some fruit flavours, notably sour cherry. Nice one!
