Very sweet aroma. Sweetness bursts onto the tongue and then various flavors reveal as it smoothes. It's certainly sweet, but not overly. It's enjoyable.

Weird that for whatever reason I do not get much scent from this. Cannot say "notes of..." anything. Not unpleasant smell, just more lacking. Appearance is very dark with a tan head. Held to the light you can see a dark ruby hint to it. Very smooth. Cannot really taste the alcohol so much as feel it. A bit of carbonation on the tip of tongue upfront but middle to end is just smooth. I love Belgium trappist beers, and though this is not one, it immediately makes me think of it. One I cannot point out hints of anything in particular, but I don’t care as I just enjoy the heck out of it.

Three Philosophers is my favorite beer from Ommegang. It has a nice complexity to it and it is rather smooth to me for being a strong ale. I drink it and don’t really feel a 9.7 ABV beer when it is going down. I’ve had several of these and it is one of the few beers I buy regularly.

Corked bottle pour. Pours dark ruby with a fizzy disappearing head. So much dark fruit here. Plums and a little cherry. Bold flavor, but a little sweet at the same time. Finishes semi sweet fruit sugar. A lot of flavor in this. Quite impressed.

Full aroma of spices, candies and peppermint. Beautiful brownish red color. Tan head is full and lasts forever. Carbonation bubbles up like a volcano. Rich sweet, spicy candies up front. Notes of raisins, a other fruits. Followed quickly with an alcohol burn and bitter hops with roasted malt notes. Finish lingers...mostly bitter...but warming. Solid

Fantastic beer. Honestly one of my favorites. Tastes best after dinner or at night after a long day with a favorite cigar. Seeing cherries suspended throughout gives it a look unlike any other.

Decent beer. I chilled it though for about a week before trying it. Probably shouldn't have done that because it tasted kind of crappy after that. Probably won't have it again unless it's on sale at Costco.

It pours a dark reddish brown with a dark and cloudy body. The head builds up to a thick pale tan head that bubbles down to a thinner layer that just covers the body. An inviting aroma of sweet dark cherries, caramel, malts and alcohol leads you to the first sip. Sweet dried cherries mixes with caramel and chocolaty malts, sour cherries, plum and raisins. All of these flavors are surrounded by a warming alcohol that fades off slowly with some bitter notes into the finish. The palate is full bodied, smooth and a little sticky.
