Guerde (696), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Mar 1, 2009 (bottle from Skyview) Pours a medium, hazy, reddish brown with just a thin off-white head. Aroma is musty and filled with cherry skin right away, but the maltier scents of caramel appear along with another smell that reminds me of a barbeque sauce. There’s a constant shifting between the cherry and the malt here, and it’s a pretty pleasant effect. The taste isn’t nearly as strong of cherry as I would’ve guessed from the smell, and there’s a lot of sweet caramel in here. Some sweet cherry appears mid-palate. Only upon the beginning of the finish do I get the spike of tart cherry skin, and the finish itself imparts a taste of crushed peanuts with a bit of bread. The mouthfeel is medium, and the carbonation is a bit too spritzy for the style. This is pretty good, and it’s definitely an interesting take on a quad. Thanks Bob! cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Mar 1, 2009 Bottle at home ... Deep brown ... sweet yeast malty nose ... sweet juicy deep fruits again a little yeasy ... Really just ok. wasnt inspired at all by it. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Feb 28, 2009 What a fantastic beer. Hints of cherries and spice in the aroma. Flavor is great balance between tart cherries, yeast, and some other hints of tart fruit. Body is very light and crisp. Alcohol is nearly undetectable. Overall, this is a great beer to sip and enjoy anytime of the year. dalexf (2), Philadelphia, Alabama, USA does not count Feb 27, 2009 My wife bought a case of this after I bruised a rib working on our house. $80 and worth it. suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA Feb 26, 2009 On tap from Stuff Yer Face. I nice dense head and cloudy reddish-gold pour. The sweetest smelling quadrupel I’ve tried with a solid amount of yeasty earthiness worked in as well. The taste was wonderful! The heaviness from the alcohol wasn’t off-putting because I was too wrapped up in working out some of the subtle flavors of this strong brew. These flavors included a certain tartness as well as that classic quadrupel sinkr (212), Lusby, Maryland, USA Feb 24, 2009 750->tulip: Pours a huge, frothy, light brown head, atop a cloudy, ruby body. Aroma is of light malt, cookie, and caramel. The body is medium, the texture thin, with an astringent finish. The flavor’s duration is average, being lightly sweet, acidic, and bitter. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Feb 23, 2009 Caged/corked bottle of a classic I’ve somehow been remiss in databasing. Solid head on a bright red beer. Aroma is of a musty farmhouse. Drinks with a nice earthy character with just the simplest hint of the cherry plus-up. This goes great with chocolate desserts. (#3519, 2/23/2009) polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Feb 21, 2009 Bottle. Aroma has notes of yeast, raisin, toasted malts. Deep dark amber hue with a large off-white foamy head that mostly lasted and left good lace. Flavor is yeasty, malty, earthy, and a little sweet. Palate is medium to full bodied and oily lively. Was hoping for more cherries which were barely noticable. A solid abt/quad but I wouldn’t buy another bottle.
