bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Feb 14, 2009 Bottled. Hazy and dark brown coloured. Malty and very sweet with notes oxidation, caramel, spices and leaves you with a dry mouth. Might have been great, but feels a bit over the hill. jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Feb 13, 2009 12 oz 2008 Bottle. Pours cherry mahgony in colr with a fair amount of off white head. Smells of cherry and brown sugar are prominant. Tastes of cherries and molasses tart-sweetness are foremost, with hints of grapes and banana in the background. Some tastes of red wine and a smooth liquor blend nicely and balance well with the fruity tartness. Excellent and unique beer. jeff789 (360), Pennsylvania, USA Feb 10, 2009 Pours a deep mahogany color with a nice light tan head... Sweet aroma, yeast, noticeably belgian, with mild notes of cherry... Slightly tart flavor, complex up front followed by a slightly tart cherry finish... A bit more carbonated than i would like... This beer is remarkably drinkable for this style... Props to Noel Blake... mpersinger (176), , California, USA Feb 9, 2009 12 oz bottle 2008, pours brown with ruby hue and moderately high carbonation. Fruity aroma and flavor, plus brown sugar, plum, carmel and cherry. Medium viscosity with velvety mouthfeel and mineral finish that hides alcohol. FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Feb 9, 2009 Truly a great ale. Lovely sweet malty, toasty aroma. Taste to match... and a good body. This one is definitely a keeper. Justinsvt (9), Madison, Wisconsin, USA does not count Feb 6, 2009 Beautiful dark reddish brown color. Pour from the bottle with a light brown head which dissipates quickly. The light cherry taste adds a pleasant change to the already flavorful beer. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 5, 2009 Bottle at House of Brews in NYC. Solid showing from the ’gang from Cooperstown. Borderline candidate for the Hall of Fame. Dark reddish color with a beige head. Aroma of malt, spices, and dark fruits. Flavor is vinous with sweet malt with lots of cherry flavors. Fairly strong alcohol. Fairly full palate. Not for rookies. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Feb 3, 2009 Bottle vintage 2007: Pours a dark amber with a nice, creamy beige head. A malty and intimidating nose with sweetness and Belgian spices. A little yeast and light florals. Taste is a deep malt flavor with a sweet caramel and vinous blend.
