My only Trappist glass is dirty and I’m WAY too lazy to wash it. OTP pours murky and reddish brown with a medium-sized head that settles quickly into a small ring of carbonation. The aroma is pretty subtle with cherries and lima beans being the only thing I can detect. This medium-bodied beer is carbonated a bit higher than expected, possibly to avoid overpowering the taste with alcohol. The cherries, while evident don’t dominate but add a great subtlety of tart fruitiness. The finish kind of sticks in your craw a bit. The beer doesn’t quite finish off the way I’d like. This is a pretty nice beer but it could be touched up here and there. Thank you Phil and Noel. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Bottled. Hazy and dark brown coloured. Malty and very sweet with notes oxidation, caramel, spices and leaves you with a dry mouth. Might have been great, but feels a bit over the hill. jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

Smells of cherry and brown sugar are prominant. Tastes of cherries and molasses tart-sweetness are foremost, with hints of grapes and banana in the background. Some tastes of red wine and a smooth liquor blend nicely and balance well with the fruity tartness. Excellent and unique beer. jeff789 (384), Pennsylvania, USA

Sweet aroma, yeast, noticeably belgian, with mild notes of cherry... Slightly tart flavor, complex up front followed by a slightly tart cherry finish... A bit more carbonated than i would like... This beer is remarkably drinkable for this style... Props to Noel Blake... mpersinger (179), , California, USA
