TheGent (144), , Massachusetts, USA Oct 19, 2008 probably the best offering from ommegang. poured this into a white wine glass. Color was deep caramel amber that was light on the edges but seemed to deepen at the center of the glass. the fruity cherries are subtle in the nose but a sweetness from caramel as well. those sweet smells transfer to the taste with a bit of alcohol int he back. Really the best part of this beer is the sharpness of the carbonation that nearly burns my tongue like holy water burns Emily Rose. Full body that makes me want to fill my glass over and over again. hirigalzkar (550), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 19, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper. Thick head. Wonderfull complex aroma of strawberries, belgian yeast and soy. Dry, fruity and refreshing flavor. Good but not great. MrRambler (6), , Delaware, USA does not count Oct 18, 2008 2008 Bottle. This beer is among the best I’ve had in the category for its wonderfully balanced flavor that is simply pleasurable. The aroma of this beer is moderately close to that of cherry hard candy mixed with malts and dried fruit complexes. The taste of the beer is yeasty and there is somewhat of a hint of caramel present. This beer has a sizable amount of alcohol due to its style, which somewhat impedes the flavor complex. The head pours moderate and settles to a thin and uniform layer of perfect tiny bubbles. The head does lightly lace the glass. This beer is great with food, and is also good as an after dinner beverage. I simply cannot get enough of this beer. jhagmar (114), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 18, 2008 75 cl bottle, thanks ekstedt. Brown, cloudy, with a fully diminishing off-white head leaving virtually no lacing. Roasted, nutty notes with a touch of raisin. Lightly acidic with a short finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Oct 17, 2008 Bottled. Ruby color, thick off-white head. Aroma of malt, some hop, hint of rasin, bit yeast, cherry. Sweet fruity taste, cherries, caramel malty, brown sugar. Finishes cherry fruity. High complexity, moderate balance though. Caleb1035 (63), , North Carolina, USA Oct 16, 2008 750 ml bottle uncorks to smell of cherries. Pours to dark body with the thick caramel head that lingers clinging to the sides. Flavor in complex with the alcohol well hidden. LtDan (471), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA Oct 12, 2008 2008 bottle. Poured a deep dark red with a small white head. Aromas of bananas, cherries, and maple sugar. Flavors of black cherry, chocolate, and hop spice. Perfectly smooth, with a flavorful linger. An MVP for performance and price.
