Commercial Description:
Three Philosophers is a remarkable limited edition strong ale brewed by Brewery Ommegang in response to a home brewer’s description of his dream beer. Realbeer.com, the internet’s largest beer website, hosted a contest called “Create a Great Beer.” Brewery Ommegang was chosen by Realbeer.com to brew the Belgian-style ale for the winning essayist. Noel Blake, a home brewer from Portland wrote the winning description for what his “dream beer” would be like.

I have this beer in front of me. The immediate sensation of aroma was of kriek cherries, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if some were added to the fermentation. This is a deep and mature beer. One that is a pleasure to the senses. Murky to see through, but a persistent head and a mouthfilling flavour. I wish I had more of this beer.

Pours a dark red with a 1" light brown head. High alcohol aroma initially, but became more complex as it warmed in the glass. Big cherry, malt, and a little smoky flavors were noticed. A great beer.

Brown/ ruby clear color with moderate head. Sweet aroma of cherries, caramel and malt. Moderately sweet with notes of wood, plums, walnut and spice. Very nice indeed.

Pours red brown with a thick fluffy head that dissipates quickly. Somewhat boozy of a scent also sweet. Flavor is of sweetness and brown sugar. The cherries are very mild.

I had this beer at a friend’s house in Atlanta. It was strong in terms of alcohol content, but the taste of cheeries was subtle. Overall very crisp and tasty.

I loved the sound when I popped this beer open....It was like a champagne....but oh so very beer-licious. You can smell the cherry’s, and it makes a wonderful aroma. When poured, the head is full, delicious and really tasty. It tastes just sweet enough...you can get the cherry taste, but not overwhelmed by it. The bottle is big, and I’ll admit....I’m a bit buzzed right now because of it. That always makes it better. I’m in love.

Bottle. Poured a hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma of fruit and alcohol. Cherry taste was evident but not overwhelming. The 10% was cruel but overall a good beer.
