rds (224), USA Jun 1, 2008 Beautiful dark brown brew with a fine head, a great Belgian style ale, but the cherry flavor is a bit over the top for me. jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA May 31, 2008 pours dark amber with medium head that leaves some lacing. aroma is cherries and yeast, with a little banana. very dry and tart flavor. alcohol is very present, warm as it goes down, pleasant. this is a good bottle for either a hot summer night or a cold winter night. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 29, 2008 Light thin ruby caramel color with a light tan head. Nose like a tripel lots of spiciness and earthiness. Taste is strong spices and noticeable alcohol. The light cherry notes are overpowered by the stinging alcohol finish. I was unimpressed. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA May 27, 2008 Light reddish carmel color with nice head. Aroma of dark fruit, light molasses, and lightly roasted malts with a hint of sharp alcohol and, no kidding, a hint of fresh broccoli and sugar snap peas. Flavor complex with all of above plus some acidic sour, along with bitter hops and a touch of smoke. Brief, sweet aftertaste morphs into a lingering sour which is a bitter over done. Is it the cherries? Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA May 27, 2008 Poured to give a nice brownish red color with a thick foamy head. Aroma is malty. Some hints of cherry and vanilla. Taste is a subtle cherry sour with a malt sweetness. Very drinkable quad. crowderm (275), Recklinghausen, Germany May 27, 2008 Pours a nice hazy ruby, not much head from the pour. Sweet, brown sugar and dark fruits in the aroma. A lot of nice things going on in the flavor - dark fruits, molasses, spice, and a smokey character that ties it all together. Smooth, very drinkable mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden. Very good beer. BeerEssential (96), Massachusetts, USA May 25, 2008 Gorgeous deep, slightly hazy red. Depending on how it’s poured you get either a nice billowy, off-white head or nothing at all. Scent is subtle, but sweet and caramel-like. Taste is not overly of the kriek lambic, but I found this to be more drinkable than most quadrupels I’ve had. A warming alcohol taste is present, but not overpowering. Little bitterness. tylerss20 (101), New Hampshire, USA May 25, 2008 I really have to love this beer. Pours reddish amber with huge blooming crown. Fruit, specifically berries and sweet dark fruit present along with thick malt notes in the nose. Taste is initially sweet, but backs off into a wonderful complex of mixed fruit, spice, sweet bread, a bit of bacon smokiness. So smooth. Really a top notch brew. Bottle purchased at 12 Pine in Pboro.
