changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 9, 2008 Updated: Sep 11, 2009Pours a syrupy mahogany color topped with a nice creamy tan head. Subtle hints of cherry in a malty tangy aroma. A tangy mouthfeel. Rich flavors consisting of malts, brown sugar and cherries. Sweet with an alcoholic rush. Bottle states that this is "98% Ale with 2% Ale with cherries added" so I was concerned about a dominant cherry flavor. That was not the case as it blended in quite well. The beer is more enjoyable the more you get through the bottle. Great head retention. Solid. roebuck (44), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 7, 2008 Pours well with a nice frothy head. The aroma was lacking a bit. It’s a smooth drink with a small hint in the aftertaste of cherries. I was expecting just something more in the flavor. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Apr 6, 2008 Ommegang Three Philosophers Belgian Style Blend 2007

sensory first impression: Banana Belgian aroma - intoxicating. ruby, tan head with sediment. Beautiful beer. Lots of carbonation, active beer. Nice head, attractive lacing. Frothy, cherry laced creamy texture and flavor. Complex visual appearance, with a wide range of warm hues. It may be the perfect exemplar of this style. Refined - not overwhelming like many others, and not thin or holding back like more common Belgian styles, like Hoegaarden, which is delicious, but not complex.

Overall experience: 18 out of 20. I liked the fruity background and foreground, the bite of bitterness, and the sweet depth. I did not like the price, but it was worth it. mattmc1973 (300), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Apr 6, 2008 12oz bottle, pours red/brown with off-white creamy head, which mostly dissipates and leaves no lacing. Aroma is nice, with heavy malt, moderate dark fruit, and cherries. Flavor very sweet and mildly acidic, with very dry finish. I’m not wild about the cherry lambic flavor, I was expecting a classic Abt/Quadrupel, but the dry cherry flavor throws me a bit. Not has happy with it as I thought I would be, considering the rating. Hopdup (71), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 6, 2008 Pours a dark, dark red with a fairly good yellow head. Smells of smoked cherries and yeast, comparable to a suttle brandy. It tastes of as a strong abbey ale but with an added sweetness. It was a little much for me. I think it would be very enjoyable as the first beer you have on a really cold night. Rynoplasty (500), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 4, 2008 Pours brown with a small cream colored head. Aroma is malty, slightly spicy and a little yeasty. Taste is a nice extremely malty taste with a little bit of toffee aftertaste. Don’t really taste cherries that much, but that doesn’t really bother me. Great beer. IPAGargoyleGuy (139), Troy, NY, New York, USA Apr 4, 2008 Its a very good beer, but it would be better if the cherry sweetness was a bit less prominent. Otherwise, its extremely full-flavored and well balanced. The flavor stays with it for a while. norsedoc (162), USA Apr 2, 2008 Bomber. Slightly hazy medium brown with a dense head. Toasty fruit/nut aroma. Caramel malt and raisin flavor. I was expecting more cherry, it’s hidden in there. Some bitterness and spice on the end. Fantastic beer.
