3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2011 Three Philosophers. 750ml bottle to snifter. Pours a cloudy dark brown with medium to high carbonation and a moderate tan head that fades quickly leaving laces on the glass. Nose is tart with spicy belgian yeast, fruity, cherry. Fruity and tart tart palate, balanced nicely; taste of alcohol is present accompanied by the warm feeling. Medium bodied with a slight syrup mouthfeel but not as heavy. Finish is lasting and sour spicy belgian yeast and alcohol is present. Great ale about as complex as it gets.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 2011. Pours a deep burgundy with a small head that dissapears completely. Aroma is sadly a bit too oxidized, tilting it towards medicinal bitterness. On the good side there is alot of sweet dark dried fruits here. Taste is alot better. Loads of sweet malts and raisins. Hints of nuts and caramel and applecider. Also a bitter twang of that medicinal note from the aroma. Body is close to full with just above avg levels of co2.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a near-clear deep amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma is raisins, caramel, oxidized apples, red fruits and hints of candy powder, white sugar and mild banana. Taste is raisins, caramel, candi sugars, burnt toast, alcohol and hints of red berries, banana and apple cider. Full body, medium carbonation. Decent enough, but this has probably seen better years (2011 bottle).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Corked bottle poured a muddy orange-brown hue w/ a huge rocky beige head diminishing to a full lasting cap. Big sweet fig and boozy aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light to moderate bitter finish. Tastes are figs, brown sugar, dark fruits and dark bread. Full bodied with a warm finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Oh, just wow. Cloudy dark amber pour under a nice thick tan head. Sticky sweet palate, but just delicious. Cherries are in there, but nice and subtle. Alcohol warmth shows up, but not in the taste. Worth every ounce of its reputation.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark, hazy brownish-red with a very foamy off-white head. Aroma is dark fruit and flavor is the same, with some alcohol taste to it. Sweet, with a full body. Very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tapp på RockBottle LA. Dimmigt mörkbrun med beige skum. Doft av körsbär och mörk malt. Söt med inslag av bär och aningen choklad. Riktigt bra.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
From the bomber bottle, pours a very dark deep scarlet red with a thick bubbly off white head. I can smell the alcohol from arm’s length. Perhaps that’s just a Vietnam flashback to drinking way too much of this on weekends in grad school. Upon further reflection, while there is an aroma of alcohol, there are also notes of sour apples, dark malts, very fruity. Thick, the alcohol, while present, is largely masked by fruits and malts. Wish I could be a little more descriptive, but it went down to quick. Really good beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured a dark amber to brown colour with a 1/2 inch cream coloured head. Aroma is sweet with notes of dark fruit (plums, raisins, and cherries), clove, and roasted malt. Flavor is sweet still with strong presence of cherries among the belgian malts. Medium bodied with carbonation and a light alcohol finish. Well done.
