bp (284), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 10, 2007 Bottle. Pours an orange-red with a bubbly head, I didn’t pick up much aroma, malty with a hint of dark cherry, a touch sour. Worth buying again.
canary dog (379), Rutland, Vermont, USA Sep 6, 2008 This is good stuff. Has the depth and character of a Belgian strong, with the added but subtle bonus of the 2% Kriek. A very fine sipping ale. jkaiser (79), USA Sep 6, 2008 Cherry aroma. Never liked cherry this much. Wow. Monster head. Lacing lasts for days. Powerful ale. Not sure what I taste, but what I taste is what my dreams are made of and that is all I need to know. Hop bite works fine with the malt and yeast and cherrys. Cherry cola color, hazy. Drink this with Low by Flo Rida on and enjoy! Pawola22 (76), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Sep 5, 2008 12 oz bottle from John’s Grocery.
Pours a really rich looking red. Hazy, can see some of the yeast/particles floating around making it even more cloudy. Big and fizzy, beige head with a good amount of lacing. A very potent aroma of sweet malts, toooons of dark cherry, a hint of alcohol, some caramel/brown sugar and licorice. A definite Belgian yeast strain smell to it too. A medium to full mouthful with an extremely chewy texture. A really interesting take on the Belgian Quad. Very malty with an initial spice, followed by a dark cherry/licorice/whiskey taste, with an ending that lingers and warms as the alcohol taste kicks in. A slight hint of roasted malts with the dried plummy taste. The candy sweetness is very well balanced with the liqueur-esque dark fruit and the slightly yeasty/bitter/burning finish. A fantastic Belgian Strong taste with a tremendous balance throughout. Not the "knock-out" strong ale that I was expecting, which I really really really enjoyed. Mmmmm. joekinty (208), rockledge, Florida, USA Sep 5, 2008 more filling taste supurb lots of flavors of fruits and malts taste good like a belgian should henrikb (1097), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 31, 2008 Red chestnut body, sparkle, beige head; Lots of caramel and age in nose; Quite full a little harsh body; Harsh very aged finish.
