750 ml bottle from Imbibe Wine. Nose of yeast, caramel, light cloves and nutmeg. Very lightly hazy yellow with a medium off white head. Flavor was peppery spices, banana, cloves, and light sweetness.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tmoreau (1269) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 2, 2009
Sampled at a Mead, Cider and Beer Tasting sponsored by Binny’s Beverage Depot, Glen Ellyn,IL. Poured to my wine/sampler glass a hazy, straw hue with just some white film and a thin ring of foam. The aroma was light notes of malt, wheat, sweetness, and spice. The flavor added a light, prickly tartness and light, dry finish. A little thin but refreshing.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (8717) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - SEP 30, 2009
Bottle, 12oz, at Bishops Arms, Karlstad. A clear, golden beer with a minimal white head. The yeasts could be shaken loose from the bottom to produce a hazy beer, but was really stuck. Citrus, orange mostly, some hops and malts, but quite weak and lacking on coriander. Hoppy bitterness, some spicy notes and pale malts in the flavor. More interesting than the aroma. Dry, medium body, quite effervescent. Coriander, oranges and bitterness in the finish. A bit disappointing compared to other Ommegang beers, but a decent one. 090802

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2010 Very attractive pour - pale yellow with a foamy, whispering head. Fairly sweet aroma with a dash of citrus and a touch of something unpleasant. The flavor is solid - fairly light and sweet with a little lemony sourness and coriander in the finish. It is pretty prickly on the palate. The biggest problem is that it is a little lacking in flavor. A nice witbier, if not the best thing I have had from Cooperstown. Pour one of these for your friends who like Blue Moon.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 oteyj (1753) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Hazy yellowish pour with a vivacious white frothy head that lingers nicely. Leaves a thick ring of lacing and presents lively carbonation. Aroma is lemon, banana esters, moderate clove spice, wheat malt and some graininess. Flavor is sweet with banana, some crisp citrus aspects, and a light touch of wheat malt sweetness. Pretty dry and highly palatable. Palate is medium bodied, clean and crisp with a nicely lingering dryness.

Tart citrus, lemon, and wheat in the nose. Appearance is hazy honey with a nice ivory head that left without lacing. Flavor much better than expected...bright, tangy, peppery, orange peel and lemongrass. Medium mouthfeel. Might have to revisit.

Bottle. Light aroma mostly characterized by citrus, also wheat, yeast, pepper. Not much complexity to the flavor, still mostly citrus, with wheat, yeast, and pepper once again filling out the rest. Lighter body than expected- the wheat could do more to help in that department. Smooth, light, and refreshing. Disappointing for an offering from Ommegang.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Nena (957) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 11, 2009
Pours a hazy pale gold with a white head. This was the first beer I’ve tried from Ommegang and I was really underwhelmed by it. Aroma is light, wheaty, with some spice. I found the flavor very bland and one dimensional for a wit. The friends I shared the bottle with were less kind than me and called it "pee." Has a watery palate. There’s just nothing interesting going on here. I do have a different beer from Ommegang on hand for later, so I’m hoping I have a better experience with them soon.
