3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 texasbartender (160) - Sugarland, Texas, USA - JUN 7, 2008
The beer pours a cloudy pale yellow golden color with a thin head. The nose is slightly acidic with notes of lemon and coriander. The body is light with a fine sweetness that pairs well with the orange and spice notes of the palate. I can get some vanilla off it as well. Lightly yeasty and very clean and drinkable. A good beer but I am not a big fan of this style.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 crowderm (315) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 27, 2008
A little more attractive in the glass than your standard Witbier - a little darker, cloudier, with a typically solid head. The aroma is of citrus, coriander, cloves...pretty mild overall though. Flavor is pretty much standard for the style, but quite tasty. Nice light, refreshing mouthfeel.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2008 Pale yellow, low carbonation. Very light and fruity. Mild with a softening by the wheat. A bit too mild for me. I do taste a bit of lemon zest.

Pours a cloudy light golden color with a large white head. Aroma of wheat and lemon, some spices. Flavor is a little sweet with a bit of bitterness and a touch of tart. Solid.

Bottle. Pours an excellent translucent honey lemon orange with a fairly decent foamy head. Aromas typical of Belgian wheats; banana, yeast, some sweeter style hops. Mouthfeel is somewhat heavier in style compared to say Hoegaarden (which I consider the quintessential Belgian White), but has some great biting citrus notes, effervescence, and a pleasant, not overly intense maltiness. Quite a good beer really, but just "ho-hum." There’s better, there’s worse.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 craftycarl21 (1591) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 7, 2008
more transparent than usual for a belgian white- yellowish coloration. decent head. nice wheat aroma with some citrus, not quite as aggressive as hoegaarden or hacker pschorr. very nice, smooth flavor, but a little more watery than the elite beers of this style. still very refreshing, really tasty.

Impression: Good fruity aroma. Good hazy color and depth. Head is lacking but haziness is there. Banana overtones, but watery finish. Visually in keeping with the style, but nothing particularly special here. Taste is good, but watery finish distracts from the overall effect. Palate is thin, watery, and diminishing.

Overall: 14 out of 20 I liked the flavor of what was there, but there was not enough ‘there’ there. Washed out watery undertone disrupts the effects of this beer. Not bad, but not great like other Ommegangs.
