Ommegang Witte, a traditional Belgian-style wheat ale with whispers of sweet orange and a touch of tart lemon. Soft and seductive, Ommegang Witte is this summer's version of spicy intrigue and refreshing flavor.

On tap at The Rake, London. Hazy gold body topped with a decent white foamy head. Spicy wheat aroma with citrusy notes. Refreshing malty/hoppy taste with hints of coriander, citrus, yeast and spices. Ends with a long yeasty/spicy finish.

Bottle pour. This one had an offensive chlorine/bleach aroma that covered up most of the qualities I think the aroma should have had. Other than that I could detect some yeast and spice in the nose. Poured a nice hazy light yellow/white color that was quite appealing. Tasted pretty good with light citrus and spices and a wit style wheat presence. Almost meaty undertones. Pretty good flavor/bad smell. Oxidation?

A bit disappointing. Certainly, the colour was right, and the cloudiness was appropriate. However, apart from a slight tart twang at the beginning, the flavour left one wanting something a bit more. Perhaps this will work well for a hot summer day for some, but a bit too thin for me.
