It has a dark prune like color until held up to the light which reveals its deep ruby red hue with fine carbonation rising up through it. From the pour it produced a tall and thick, light beige head. It slowly settles down to a smaller tightly packed foam covering which makes lots of splotchy lacing all the way down the glass. The aroma has a firm sour fruity character to it with notes of tart cherries with sour dough bready and some funky yeast. No hops are detected in the nose. It has a fairly light body with a pleasant sourness running throughout it. The aroma gives some foreshadowing to its sour fruity character. There are notes of tart cherries as well as tart raspberries and even some sweet and sour apple notes too. These fruity notes held together with a base of dry sour dough beady malt and yeast flavors. A very slight hop bitterness and musty flavor is noted towards the dry, dusty, yeasty and mildly sour/tart finish. The carbonation is light and smooth but still active enough to keep things light and lively. This is a very easy drinking sour ale with nice complexity that is easily overlooked light body and easy sipping texture. If you have been drinking a lot of Double or Imperial IPA’s and Stouts you may need to quickly acclimate your tongue to pick up and appreciate the subtleties of lighter bodied beers. I would say that it is worth it to slow down and notice all the little subtle things going on in this refreshing mild Sour Ale.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, best before 6/4/2012. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of tart cherry, green apple, raisin, cranberry, pear, brown sugar, toast, red wine vinegar, hay, straw, musty funk, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and fruity/funk yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart cherry, green apple, cranberry, raisin, pear, brown sugar, hay, straw, light clove, red wine, white vinegar, light leather, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of fruity/earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lightly tart cherry, cranberry, green apple, raisin, plum, pear, brown sugar, red wine, white vinegar, hay, straw, light leather, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of malt and fruity/funky yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly slick/syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Flemish brown ale. All around good balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity/funky yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on with the light acidity. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled from a 0.75l bottle @ Top Hops (BA) Bottle Share. This is a blurry deep red one. Not much of a head here. It has a nice Flemmish nose with lots or sour red berries, some sugar, and a little bit of lemon acidity. The mouthfeel is light oily and it has a below average carbonation level. Flavors are lovely tart. Lots of red sour berries, more sugar and it ends with a woody finish. Really tasty stuff. 15.06.2013

Pours a lovely cola with some cherry hues, some soapy tan bubbles hedging an etched surface. Smells of lactic, acetic souring with a spicy malt background and some sour cherry character. A bit of wood in the nose as well. Flavor is slightly sweet, tart and malty. A bit of a bicarbonate flavor initially, then some balsamic, cherry, bread, some almost nutty flavors. A complex flavor profile, but I don’t know if I like it.... Medium bodied with a little higher carb than I’d like with a nice disappearing finish. The feel is refreshing. This beer is better than it was two years ago, but not anything I’d spend the asking price for (~$13 IIRC)

Cloudy brown color with no head. Aroma of cherry, vinegar, and wood. Not overly sour-just a hint at the back end with cherry, vinegar, and wood flavor. Very nice beer.

Wow, this held up pretty well for a few years! Lost it bite as a Flemish sour, but still really good. Aroma brings dominant fruity cherries, real smooth on the palate, so pleasant. Flavor brings light tart yeast and some cherry non sweet flavors at the end. Carbonation is right on, bringing a big pop with the cork!

Flavor is quite mild upfront. A hint of cherry and barrel, and a somewhat bready, somewhat spicy yet slightly biscuity yeast backbone. Finish is a hair more tart with sour cherry and an added splash of vinegar showing through and spicy as well. Somewhat dry. Not much lingers but a hint of tartness and a hint of biscuit.

Bottle from Turtle Creek Wine & Spirits in Winder, GA. Stored for a couple of years. Sour apples, sour cherries, very fresh and lively in the nose. Dirty brown, with little head. Quite a sour initial hit / slight fumes in mid, with more palate-scouring sourness / finished just bit fizzy and astringent, leaves the tongue clean. Thin-medium body. Pretty damn good. All the fruit is there, soured up, puckering and refreshing. Not too big of an acid attack. I like it.
