750mL brought to Shenandoah Throwdown. Poured a slight hazy mahogany with a thin beige head. Sweet concord grape juice nose with cherry, strawberry, slight vinegar. Taste is sweet grape juice, sweet cherries, moderately tart concord grapes, slight lactic acidity, touch of red wine vinegar. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours a cloudy mahogany with ruby highlights and a thick tan head that keeps a decent cap.
aroma is woody, tart cherry sourness. some vinegar tones and light roasted toffeeish malt presence.
Flavour is medium sourness, red wine vinegar, soft cherry fruitiness.
quite drinkable. Not as intense as some other sours. Very approachable though. I liked it.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
750ml bottle shared at a tasting thanks to chswimmer on BA. Pours dark reddish-brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is slightly tart cherries and vinegar. Not terribly much to it. Flavor is pretty uninspiring. Not very flavorful. There are some cherries, oak, and red wine vinegar, but the flavor is somewhat weak overall. Somewhat watery on the palate. Very slight tartness. This beer is not very good for the style at all. We didnít finish the bottle.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is nice balance of malt and acidic sourness and light cherry character. Very refreshing and not overly acidic.
slightly hazy brownish red with a nice reddish brown head, tightly beaded head.
the sourness is not overly tart, very well balanced and pleasant slight malt sweetness provides some balance

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle. Zuur pours a dark murky brown with a huge 2-3 finger white fluffy head - there is good retention throughout until the lasts 1/4 of the glass. some tart cherry notes on the nose with lingering apple, vinegar and slight wood notes... really not as sour as I would like across the nose. big round body with more tart cherries throughout... fairly good carbonation levels... sweet malt undertones... sour finish - but still fairly soft. the acidity is higher on the back end, but overall this is on the low end of sourness.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour is a dark umber with a ruby tinge. Big white head.
Nose is big cherry, light malts of toffee, cereal, and definite sour notes of course.
Taste is sour cherry, sour apple, and a good bit of cereal malt notes.
Palate is pretty standard stuff, nothing bad or great about it.
Overall a very standard sour for me, nothing special but pleasant overall and quite drinkable. Still, at the price point and rarity i would expect more.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle. deep, murky brown under a large, fine bubbled, creamy head. tart aroma with cherry, caramel, chocolate, apple. flavor isnít overly sour or tart. some buttery caramel and tart cherry, unripe blackberry. hints of cinnamon in the aftertaste. missing the full body iím used to in this style...more medium bodied, which is fine i guess. solid....but itís no Goudenband(i love this stuff).

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Extremely dark brown pour with a smallish, bubbly, off white head. Aroma is excellent, and holds cider vinegar, tart cherry, barnyard, and touches of sweeter plum and strawberry. Flavor is so incredibly disappointing; flavor is mostly cherry, tart but dissipates so quickly, and not a whole lot more going on. Palate is light and simplistic. Iím legitimately upset-- the nose is awesome, but the rest of this beer is so underwhelming. Itís a shame, though I do love the effort on the oud bruin style from Ommegang.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 ml. bottle from Macís on West Peachtree. The headed faded away rather quickly; oh well, good things always come to an end. Nearly opaque, dark brown appearance. The head is wispy, so the aforementioned statement about it [the head] fading away, is slightly untrue. Not as tart an aroma as I was hoping for. Almost too sweet of a cherry aroma. There is a slight tartness backing up the cherry sweetness, but still, itís too sweet smelling to be a sour. Little bits of funk hitting my nose, but it isnít ridiculously pungent. Light brushes of sour flavor(s) hit my taste buds, but the flavors disappear rather quickly. If you take a big gulp of this, and force you taste buds to taste every last sour particle in this then, yes, the beer is sour, but overall, not so much. Nothing wrong with the texture or carbonation here; itís fairly smooth and has a nice texture. Iím wondering if some time would do the trick on this one. Nice try Ommegang, but as others have said the Rouge was better.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Red brown color with an offwhite ivory head. Head slowly subsides to a nice collar around the glass. Aroma is of sour fruit notes, cherry with a slight acidic bite. The taste is actually not as sweet as I expected but still quite nice. More tart than sour. Slightly "watery" in that I think the mouthfeel should be slightly heavier. Overall, a good beer that I think will get better with age.
