COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The complexity of simplicity. Ramping up a simple recipe of base malt and East Kent Golding provides a rich and intense ale that with time will develop complexities.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. About 1 year old. Pours deep golden with a creamy offwhite head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, malty and slightly boozy with caramel, old dark bread, oatmeal, apple jam, unripe pears, glue, hay and alcohol. Taste is sweet, very tiny sour, malty and fruity with caramel, oatmeal, caramelized apples, baked pears, hay, soil, leather, alcohol and hints of marzipan. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly velvety, round, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet, very tiny sour, malty and fruity with caramel, oatmeal, apple jam, baked pear, hay, soil, lemon zest, alcohol and hints of marzipan. Initial reviews were unfavourable so I held on to this for a while. Pretty bad smelling pleasantly tasting pome-driven barley wine.

Denna här går väl ner utan större problem men den är ju inte överdrivet god kanske ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Really surprising considering the constituent elements! Hazy as heck, aroma of plummy stone fruits. Amazing complexity for ridiculously simple recipe. Almost refuse to believe it! Then again , Belgian ales of similar strength are often very simple too. Very surprising!

draught@Erzbierschof - pretty clear amber-orange beer with no foam left; aroma of cognac, sour berries and hints of pear; full-bodied and sticky; rounded and pretty sweet; fairly bitter and with a solid apparent alcohol, caramel, marzipan and chewy fruity notes

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2014 on tap at Erzbierschof Liebefeld, June 20, 2014. The high abv is very noticeable. Cloudy orange color with a proper white head. Some fruit in the aroma, but also sugar, malt and bread. Taste is sweet with some hops and caramel in there. Complex. I enjoyed it very much.

330ml bottle. Hazy cloudy orange/amber body with a medium head. Sweet malts, alcohol, dried fruit and figs. Kind of unbalanced on the sweeter side...

On tap at Schouskjelleren, march 29th 2014. Dark orange body, small offwhite head. Aroma of grapes, crystal malt, roast. Taste is lightly tart with apples and grapes, sweetened by caramel, chocolate and a thick body, very noticable alcohol. Light bitterness, tart fruity aftertaste. Quite refreshing for the strength.

@ Havregatan. Flaska från Systembolaget (69:-). Maltig och fruktig, ganska hög sötma, citrusaktiga toner, alkoholtoner, viss kryddighet, peppar. Avslutningen är alkoholvärmande, hyfsat lång, ganska torr och något besk.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Hazy orange, small head. Aroma of gin and tonic with extra lime juice. Underlying syrupy malt sweetness, but sour lime juice dominates. Marzipan, tart mead and loads of gin. Sticky finish with burning alcohol. A total mess.
