33cl bottle from Winter Secret Santa 2014. Dark brown pour with a light mocha ring that completely fades. A nice boozy cognac aroma with burnt chocolate malt, vanilla, caramelized toffee, oak, ash, mild+ carbonation and full body, bitter and boozy but great depth and quite tasty.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The label was one of the best descriptions I’ve read on a bottle. Really intriguing mix here. Lots of alcohol in the nose and some dark fruits. I get the vanilla beans coming through and some sweet notes which I suppose could be the marshmallows. Odd to throw into a beer but it works. Enjoyed this one.

0.33l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. Been looking forward to this one for some time now! In the glass this is just as deep and dark black as I had hoped it it was. I’ll go as far as to call it jet black. Head-vise it’s a bit of a downer. Tried to produce, did not deliver at all really. One translucent bubble sticking to the side. Other than that, nothing. Smells absolutely lovely. Super rich, sweet and roasted. There’s dark chocolate, lots of warm cognac, burnt marshmallows, some alcohol also and traces of marzipan here. I really like this! It’s definitely flavorful. Quite sweet and really burnt! Yeah, definitely burnt, and I really like this kind of burntness. It’s thick and chewy in the mouth and quite soft on the bubbles. Really flavorful! Not cloying but definitely sweet. Marzipan sweetish with a dark dark chocolate thing all the way. It’s really thick this! Just by swirling the glass the beer sticks to the sides and slowly slowly glides down. Ends with a really nice vanilla and chocolate tail. The cognac wasn’t all that dominating in the taste, more in the aroma. A really really fine one indeed! 08.10.2014
