Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Bottle from systembolaget. Aroma is banana followed by grape. Clear yellow, "lager like" appearance. A nice toasty maltiness, some spicyness and some banana in the taste. The finish is medium long with the same character as the taste, however with more banana. It is a dry beer with lively carbonation. It is an ok beer, but for my taste the aroma should be a lot more hoppy and less banana. In the taste the banana levels are ok, but it should be more bitter

Light yellow, golden colour with a three finger high white, fluffy head. Leaves lacing on the glass. Nose: Citrus, elder, green apples, honey, spice, grapefruit and black currant. Taste: Fruit! Crisp and fresh. Apple, green grapes, grapefruit peel, grass, orange and pears. Plenty of carbonation as it should be for a Belgian. A nice bitterness in the background and a dry finish. Perfect!

Aroma: The smell is citric and spicy, dill, grape-fruit and a hint of green grapes.
Appearance: The beer is clear light golden, has a small off-white head, no lacing, but some curtains.
Taste: Starting glucose sweet, lemon juice and peels, a seed bitterness.
Palate: Medium carbonation, small intense bubbles, rather refreshing with a coarse finish.
Overall: A very well crafted beer, a bit on the hoppy side however.
Note: On-tap at De Klomp tasting Reviewed 2011-12-30.

Satisfactory Belgian. Flavor has a smooth and saison taste. Yeast gives some tangyness, some spiciness, but I disagree that this is "assertively" hopped per the description. Not much hoppiness at all in fact. Highly carbonated as expected from a "true" Belgian. Not bad, but there are many better. B-

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours cloudy golden with a little sediment and a white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma is citrus, yeast, and spices. Flavour is much like the aroma – with a dry finish.

Bottle from Vintage Estate. Cool bottle art. Pours a pale orange with a huuuge white head that lasts and leaves an intricate lacing. Aroma of hops and typical hefe funk. Slight tang but quite refreshing.
