Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

A hazy orange body with a large, fluffy head that quickly settles while leaving lacing on the glass. Nose has spicy yeast notes, hay, citrus fruits and some farmhouse aromas. Tasre is quite dry with a hefty bitterness that lingers on the palate. Lively carbonation and light palate. Decent brew with nice yeast notes but a bit dry, which makes the bitterness too pronounced.

Bottle sample at DSG’s 10K tasting at the Dancing Camel. Thanks TomL. Clear dark gold with a white head. Fruity aroma of pear and a little soapy too. Bitter and mild taste that’s somewhat floral, light body, soft fizz and a little juicy finish.

Aroma of citrus, yeast, apricot, hay. Pours yellow with a frothy champagne-like head, sparkling carbonation. Medium light sweetness and medium light bitterness. Sparkling carbonation on the tongue, medium light body, slick texture and medium finish of fresh citrus. Overall very easy drinking and a good session pale ale.

Bottle at Bierhalle Deconinck. Dry, light citrus, yeast, some banana and quite malty. Ok, but not my favourite Omnipollo-beer by far. A bit boring for them.

Bottle shared, thanks Raul. Champagne yeast is always a tricky twist, quite liked that one early one with its dry grape edge but spiciness and alcohol heat slowly took over. Interesting one but to be enjoyed in small pouring.
