Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Pours hazy amber with a white head. Aroma of grassy hops, hay, straw, caramel malts, citrus fruits and pretty rural and farmhouseish overall. Taste is funky with some grassy hops, and dry farmhouse notes as well. A pretty nice Belgian farmhouse IPA kinda thang!

Aroma: lemon peel, orange, resin, peach; Appearance: pale golden, foamy vanishing head; Taste: medium bitterness, medium sweetness, slight sourness; Palate: bitter finish, soft carbonation, slick texture, medium body Drier and hoppier than a typical Belgian ale, with a pleasant mouthfeel.

A slightly orange beer with a big, blond and clouding head. The nose is fruitful, lemon, meat. Taste is fruitful, strongly spicy, also nice bitterness, some sourness of lemon, overally dry. Medium bodied, strong carbonation. Good, dry, nice hopped beer with the interesting meat nuance.

Pours golden and hazy, with huge head, which leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma has citrus, twigs, grass and little bit of sourness (from the yeast?). Taste has again a lot of twigs, citrus and yeasty herbiness. A little bit of woodiness is also present. Palate is well carbonated, dry and medium hoppiness. Different pale ale, with belgian ale characteristics. Hoppiness is mostly apparent.

Bottle (750ml) bought in September 2014 in Sweden (Systembolaget). Fruity smell and taste with a nice palate touch to it. Excellent balance between fruity and bitter tastes. Color is deep orange, reminding a bit of classic tropical juice except perhaps slightly more transparent.

23.08.2014, 0,75l bottle shared with friends @ home:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh yeasty, leafs, citrus peel, hops, yeast, moss, light malts, lawn, flowers. Taste is slightly harsh floral, flowers, weeds, yeast, leafs, light malts, citrus peel, moss, minerals, wet grass. Medium to longlasting bitterness, harsh mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea...
