Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Fit for beer geeks and party freaks alike, Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Bottle. Got this from the guy at The Beer Authority in Seattle ’oh the house’ becuase he said he wasn’t so into it. I rather enjoyed this honestly. Nice champagney aroma with a mix of grains. Bit hopped up in the flavor, but nice and champagne style dry on the finish. It’s not loud, but it works well with the brew. Like Deus, just less expensive and not as round.

Very hazy golden pour with a thin frothy white head and light sticky lacing .... aroma of citrusy fruits, fruity champagne yeast is definitely evident as well as a floral hop .... .taste is light and of caramel malts, light floral and citrusy hops with a slight fruity yeast .... has a slight hint of liveliness .... finish is dry and slightly bitter

Ljusgul grumlig vätska. Frisk doft av citron jäst och anis. Smaken är kraftfull med frisk pärlighet, desto värre är att den även smakar av anis. Jag är ingen fantast av den smaken vilket drar ner betyget.

Bottled. Cloudy golden colour with rich creamy head. Aroma from citrusy, herbal hops and a gentle character of Belgian yeast. Flavour is white bread, and citrus, flowers and herbs from hops. Medium bodied with low bitterness. The flavour is rich but balanced, and longlasting. Great beer!

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, rocky, white, fully lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of Juicy Fruit gum, pepper, pineapple, hint of rhubarb. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Dunno how Omnipollo are getting clean beers from the De Proef factory, but both this and Mazarin are pretty good. This has the same downfall that Mazarin does, that it’s too thin and watery. But the nose and balance are both pleasant. Looks fantastic too.
