Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Corked 750 from Systembolaget and drank it all by myself. Very tasty balanced ale with crispy finish. What a beer.

Thanks to jinroh for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing a finger of clena white foam with well filtered golden honey. The nose shows a lot of lime. The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied with clean lime and pine notes throughout. Light bitterness on the finish. Nothing out of place but a bit simple.

Bottle shared at Ratebeer Tokyo W & CB Tasting. Thanks Raul! Lemon, orange zest, pith and Belgian yeastiness on the nose. Spritzy carbonation with a medium body. Well-balanced with some peach and apple on the palate. Some bitterness towards the finish. Bone dry finish. Very nice.

First impression is golden straw with hughe head in white. Nose is malty and yeasty with light hops. Taste i Belgian style with typical yeast and some maltiness. Palate shows delicate bitterness and yeast. In total they have reached the stipulated goal. Light companion.

Bottle 33 cl. Golden color with very good white foam. Strong pleasant hop aroma: floral, spices, perfumes and a little butterscotch, light fruity esters, sweet notes of malt. Taste: dry, tangerine and grapefruit, pleasant hop bitterness, excellent balanced.

Corked 750 from Mariefred Systembolaget split at home with Matt and Dad, 27/12/15. Pure quality throughout. Gauzy peach looks high on head. Then hugely perfumed Belgian nose all honeyed jasmine, temples, incinerated pollen, jellied orange and ginger. That’s a 9. So smooth and balanced with the orange and peach jellies beautifully underscored by husky bitterness. Fragrant, full-bodied and savoury. By a long way Beer of The Day. Belgian fragrance and spice paired with new world hop. What a winner.

Pours hazy golden colour with lots of foam. Aroma is lemon and herbal notes. Taste is lemon, herbs and spices with a dry mouthfeel. Decent but nothing special.

Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Blonde légèrement trouble. Nez classique belge, grain et alcool. Palais étonnant, malté, houblon léger, assez rond en bouche. Moyenne.
