Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

750ml bottle - shared by ElviraS - thanks!
Messy dirty aroma - "belgian IPA" levels of mess. Hops, yeast, mess. Hazy straw huge spongey head, but a little brief. Tastes better, has a twangy belgian twist, but plenty of full hops, a bit floral, but a bitter resin behind it too. Almost saisony refreshing twang. Simple palate, quite refreshing. Started bad, but pulled its socks up.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy golden bodt with a white, fluffy head. Lively carbonation. Excellent lacing. Aroma of salted lemon, hay, grass and white bread. Flavour of apricot, lemon sweets, orange peel and grapefruit. Medium body with a spritzy mouthfeel. Slightly too fizzy for my liking. This is a fresh-tasting, hoppy beer, which showcases the yeast really well.

On tap. Giallo dorato, opalescente, schiuma bianca, fine e persistente.aroma piuttosto intenso, fruttato, uva bianca, lievito, quasi vinosa, luppolatura aromatica complessa, sia agrumata che resinosa. Speziata, coriandolo. Gusto abboccato, decisamente amara per lo stile. Corposa, piuttosto carbonata, non molto rotonda. Equilibrata e armonica nel suo complesso.
