COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Skål!

Pours golden with too much head. The aroma is sweet honey, cloves and belgian yeast. A smooth beer with a little wheaty taste to it but not overpowering and some bitterness. An enjoyable if not spectacular beer.

Pours a great looking golden color, with a decent head, soon collapsing to a thin layer of lacing. Smells of a pungent, noble grassiness, with just a tiny spice hint to it. That spicy note is enough though, to open up the nose to the beers smooth yeast qualities, creating a nice flowery depth by blending into herbal hops, which maintain supremacy. Has a yeast smoothed medium carbonation, with a refreshing mouthfeel to it, due to the well noteable, pleasant hop quality. Tastes of a stony minerality, resulting from the effervescent carbonation, which remains noteable from the beginning till the end, softened by the emerging, dough yeast. Well entangled into the beers yeast character, herbal hops add a pleasant dryness to the taste, developing into an interesting counterpart to the perfectly dispensed spice quality of the yeast. During the finish, dryness evolves, including even more grass, showcasing the brews pale ale qualities, while yeast and white bread malts act as a smooth, balancing foundation. This creates an intriguing interplay between the hops and a mineralic aqueous quality, resulting in a tickling dryness, while yeast adds a smooth, spicy softness, without overpowering the hop impression.
