COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Leon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Skål!

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a large white foamy head. Aroma brings out zesty citrus hops, some spicy notes, and dry biscuity malt. Flavour brings out tangy citrusy notes, zesty notes, and more of the tanginess on the finish. Solid one, but the tanginess takes away from the refreshingness of it. Decent stuff.

Tap at CBC Brixton. Pours a hazy orangy with a white head. Aroma is yeasty, medicinal, orange, a bit bready. Medium body, medium carbonation. Caramel to start, lots if white bread dough, yeastiness, some pepto bismol, marmalade. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle, 0.75 l, from Systembolaget, 20140315) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was large, white and it lasted long. Aroma had fruitiness, spicy yeast and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, citricness, Belgian style yeast, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, yeasty and bitter. A very nice hoppy Belgian ale.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein leicht trübes orangegoldenes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, malzig süß, leicht würzig. Geschmack leicht hefig, fruchtig malzig, Gewürze, blumig.

Appearance: Clear light amber with 3 finger thick white head. Aroma: Mango, lemon, lime, mineral, spicy and grassy. Taste: Medium bitterness and sourness with low sweetness. Palate: Thin grainy texture, light body, prickly carbonation, dry abrupt bitter sour, citrusy, peppery fruit finish. The champagne yeast gives it a vinous edge. Comments: Very tasty, glass lace and refreshing.

On tap @ Mikkeller & Friends. Looks deep orange and cloudy in the glass this. It also has a small islandy white top that’s leaving some small lacing down the sides of the glass. Mild nose. Traces of yeast and a little bit of salty red berries. Lingon berries perhaps? Mild but nice. Tastes nice as well. Quite on the sweet side this. Light oily in the mouth and it’s softly carbonated. Dandelion bitterness but without the sharp edge. It’s actually one of the more pleasant Belgian ales I’ve had in quite some while. 11.01.2014
