COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” - in fear of having to drink bland lager all night - I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Fit for beer geeks and party freaks alike, Leon is whole-cone hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops (Amarillo & Simcoe) in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing. Drink it chilled out of a wine glass or just straight out of the bottle.

Tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam.
Opalescent yellow one with a fine creamy medium head. Spicey aroma with some cheese, grass and some grains. Fruity taste, tuttifrutti flavor, interesting malt background, some hops bit around. Good.

Tap at Mikkeller Bar. Wonderful orange with a small white head. Even more wonderful fresh, crisp citrusy, light fruity nose with hoppy, yeasty notes. Almost farmhouse-ish flavor, crisp, yeasty, spicy, medium sweet, fruity hoppy, medium bitter, light barnyard Medium body, dry peppery finish. Almost a saison.

Huge yellowish head, collapsing yet lasting over clear orange-golden beer. Herbal nose, green spices, greenmalt, raw vegetables, green hops. Taste is more or less what the nose suggested: vegetables, herbs, green(fill in yourself) and fresh hops, though I’m surprised to read Amarillo - what it isn’t is fruity or citrussy. Rather bitter, not much maltbacking. Very creamy head, well-carbonated, very slighlty chewy, though medium bodied at best. Lasting hopflavours. Decent - until I read the blurb... straight out of the bottle UNENDING SHAME UPON YOU!. No beerlover ever ought to say anything nice about you, or drink your beers twice!

Bottle from Kihoskh, København. Tall fluffy blond head. Body is gold colored, slightly hazed. Smells nice. A fine mix of refreshing champagne yeast and a just the right amount of fruity hops. Light in lively in the mouth. Taste is refreshingly dry. Crisp pale malts, some fine yeast tones and a subtle fruity bitterness. Dry, short light fizzy ending. A true quencher.

Draught at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival. Almost clear golden liquid with medium white head. Aroma of banana, clove, citrus, pine, grass, tropical fruit and wheat. Taste is dry and light to medium bitter with notes of wheat and Belgo yeast esters. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice and drinkable.

11.2 ounce bottle. Served in a Unibroue tulip, the beer pours a slightly hazy dark gold color with about an inch and a half off-white head that stayed around a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like citrusy hops (grapefruit, lemon peel), yeast and some grainy/bready malt. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but the citrusy and bitter flavors are the strongest. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s smooth but has high but also soft carbonation. It’s easy enough to drink. It’s a good overall brew, I thought it was definitely worth trying. $5.59 a bottle.

Tap at Craft Brixton - 28/09/12. Lightly hazed orange/amber in appearance with a thin off white head. Tropical fruits on the nose, citrus, brett tones. Taste follows with light sour notes, apricot jam, orange. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a sweet finish.

On tap @ Beer Temple. Golden blonde color, somewhat hazy. Firm white head that leaves good lace. Aroma’s: buttery (diacetyl??), sourish, fruity, a bit sweet , earthy. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly acidic. Medium bodied. Finishes rather bitter. Weird, not very well (or not at all) balanced.
