Mazarin is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2013.

Bottle at the Fork and Bottle, Zurich, Switzerland, Saturday 25th June 2016. Wow this beer looks fabulous, it almost glows orange with a large frothy white head. Creamy mouthfeel, sort of like a soft citrus ice cream and not unlike the collabs they did with Buxton, it’s lovely, hoppy, refreshing but smooth with a creamy edge. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

Bottle. Nose is big pineapple, lactose, hint of caramel, lime, lychee. Taste is dank hop, leading to grapefruit rind, lime, lemon bitterness, lemon grass, grass, finish is extraordinarily dry. Slight hints of banana, lychee , and vanilla soften the hops, but this remains puckeringly bitter. Delicious.

Bottle at home. 08/06/16. Ordered from Saviere Biere (will check spelling later!). Hops with a citrus edge - not overly strong, hence tbe average score. However I’ve given top marks for apperance - probably shouldn’t inclue the bottle but it’s a lovely looking beer. And when poored it’s a hazy golden, with a good white head. The taste is medium bitter which gets smoother as on repeated mouthfulls, complimented by a creamy palate.

Hazy yellow beer, thick white head, Hoppy, fruity aroma. Flavour is sharp, bitter hop with tangy, tropical fruit. A really strong, zesty, grassy flavour. As the description says it isn’t deeply complex, but it’s a pure, strong flavour and done really well.

33cl bottle, served in snifter glass. Poured a murky, hazy yellow. Looks like a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice with a three finger white head. Aromas of mango, grapefruit, pineapple. Taste is a continuation of the aromas with additional citrus, orange peels, vanilla, banana, grass, peach, lemon peels. Chewy mouthfeel. A medium body with a hoppy dry bittersweet finish. A delicious tropical fruity Pale Ale.

The taste is pretty full. It’s not as light as I suspected. It has a nice thickness to it. A good experience overall.
