Mazarin is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2013.

Tap @ Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, small sample, served in a tulip glass. Clear yellow to golden color, short head. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus (I was thinking Amarillo or alike), slight grainy and cookie maltiness. Low to medium bitterness, slight cookie sweetness. Good stuff.

Slightly hazy looking orange beer with nice head on top and lots of lacing. Aroma has lots of sweet tropical fruits, grapefruit and some caramel too. Nice and fresh aroma. Taste has fresh bitter grapefruit, citrus and sweeter fruits too. Medium body with medium+ carbonation. Excellent summer pale ale.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2015 Loads of grapefruit and pine, but quite low bitterness. It’s very balanced, and just the right dryness. Very refreshing, and outstanding pale ale with a prominent grapefruit and simcoe pine taste.

Draught at the Kahdet Kasvot, Tampere, Finland. Cloudy orangey golden colour with a small foamy white head. Fruit punch, mild sourness, fruity sweetness, mild bitterness and some balancing maltiness in the aroma. Amazing! Wow! The hop profile is just right. The flavour is tropical fruits, fruity sweetness, malt and a hint of bitterness. Very very drinkable. The carbonation is very soft. It could be a bit stronger to make this beer super fantastic. Now this is only fantastic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Hazy orange with a lively white head. Pleasant tangerine hop character, just a kiss of caramel in the malts, bitter end. Nice.

Keg at CASC. It pours deep amber with a yellow-white head. The nose is orange, tangerine, sherbet, candy, caramel and passion fruit. The taste is crisp, bitter, orange peel, sherbet, caramel, toast, caramel and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Easy going stuff.
