COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mazarin is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2013.

Poured leaving behind an inch of cloudy sediment. Pours a lightly hazed gold/medium gold, airy frothy head,foamy/lace. Aroma is pretty nice, hoppy with citrus, some dankness with herbal/ earthy hops / mildripe fruit / toasted / caramel malts, almost buttery / dyacytal. Taste has some authentic malt taste, buttery, light caramel, pine, lots of pine and citrus all the way through the bitter to the end with light carmel malt. Fairly strong bitter finish.Somewhat dry.Medium medium light body. Really nice for a 5ish%er.

FROM NOTES: August 8, ’12 Poured on draft at The Trappist into a Trappist tulip. A: Strong citrus aroma and a balanced hop/malt nose. A: Poured a hazy, orange with an inch and a half of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing. T: Initially a strong, copious hop flavor, some malt, citrus (grapefruit), and a slight graininess. Perhaps not as great as the nose suggests, but still very good. P: Medium-bodied with a fair amount of carbonation and a dry, smooth finish. O: Extremely refreshing, a solid, drinkable beer.
