Mazarin is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2013.

(Omnipollo Mazarin Oatmeal Pale Ale) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a teku, ABV 5.6% Bright and sunny yellow on the body, cloudy but not hazy, with a small white head om top, with good density and retention. Nice aroma with plenty of citrus, grass, fruits, nectarines. Taste is also fruity with peaches, nectarines, quite bitter, with nice citrusy notes and good hop presence. Medium thin body, carbonation is a bit high. Great pale ale.

Gyllengul öl med vitt skum. Fruktig arom främst med ananas och citrusfrukter. I smaken går det mer åt grapefrukt och persika.

A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 9th April 2016 and poured into a pint glass. The beer poured a hazy golden orange colour with a two finger white head that has good retention and leaves a thin foamy layer with nice stringy lacing. Very nice aromas of citrus grapefruit, mandarin and orange followed by tropical pineapple, passion fruit and mango. It finishes with a hint of floral pine. With taste there is a very light caramel malt in the background but strong citrus grapefruit, orange and pineapple. There are also hints of mango and honey while finishing with a grassy pine light bitterness. As it warms, the caramel malts and pine finish were more pronounced. Medium to light bodied with medium carbonation. Overall… wow, this reminded me of Fatamorgana for a while there. Not quite as good in the end, but initial impressions were great. The aromas coming off this beer were stunningly nice and fruity. I would have preferred more tropical flavours considering the aromas, but overall this was still very good.

opaque blond light yellow (EBC 4-5) with a frothy fine poring off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, sugared/caramelised oranges, mandarin and sweet porridge with some faint white grape notes at the back end develop. Lightly effervescent and tangy, smooth light slick with a medium slender body. Light caramel sweetness bringing a refreshing well balanced smooth grapefruit, piney, light resinous hop bitterness. Lasting finish which is well harmonic.

Feels bit weird but in a good way. Nice citrusy hop level,, grapefruit, peaches (interesting combo for me), bit wheaty honeyish oatmeal, quite intense maltiness for APA, caramel. Moderate bitterness, with moderate to light sweetness. Bit unorthodox, but tasty.

Bottle. Sensoric. Golden pale, medium hazy with big, semi-densed, white head. Medicore head retention and lacing. Light to medium tropical fruits aroma, also medium citrus accents (lemon, grapefruit), little soapy. Light caramel aroma. Taste is light ot medium bitter, in the end just a little malty sweetness. Light body, watery.creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is light bitter and semi-dry. In overall nice APA - drinkable, refreshing with hints of tropical fruits everything not too much, as it should be.
