Mazarin is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2013.

Backlog rating. Keg at CPK, London. It pours a clean golden color with a medium white head. Aroma is hop forward on the fruity side, with pineapple and citrus. Taste is similarly fruity but not overly bitter. Grapefruit and peaches with a touch of acidic note in the finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Nice pale ale.

Bottle->SA. Gold with small white head. Fruity hops with some caramel malt at play. Unbalanced and messy. Either this was well past its prime, or this particular pale ale blend is just not to my liking.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden orange and cloudy with agreeable lacing. Nose - very much canned mandarins! Something resin or earthy in the background. Taste - fresh jaffa oranges this time. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy dry middle section and a long dry finish. Overall - yes really tasty and balanced.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear amber pour with a big fluffy white head, vibrant tropical hop aroma of passion and pine, taste has zesty citrus, pine, mango, well rounded malts, light bitterness and a side note I love the bottle.
