Mazarin is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.
In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2013.

11.2oz bottle in a lager glass. Pours amber with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, caramel malts, and a little toasted dough. Flavor the same with a good amount of hops and malts. Average texture. A good version of a pale ale, that I’d like to try fresher

Bottle. Hazy orange with a lively white head. Pleasant tangerine hop character, just a kiss of caramel in the malts, bitter end. Nice.

Aroma: floral hops, hay, bread, cereals. Appearance: slightly hazy gold, small white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: light sweets come up, light malts, light bitter again in the average-long finish. Overall: great APA, fantastic aroma. Pint at Euston Tap, Euston.

Keg at CASC. It pours deep amber with a yellow-white head. The nose is orange, tangerine, sherbet, candy, caramel and passion fruit. The taste is crisp, bitter, orange peel, sherbet, caramel, toast, caramel and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Easy going stuff.

(Bottle). Fresh and a bit metallic smell and taste of hops, grass, malt, flowers, fruit and citrus. The taste feels slightly perfumed but the beer is easy to drink.

Clear orange beer with huge off-white head leaving lacing. Aroma has sweet tropical fruits and caramel with some resinous and piney hops in the background. Really nice aroma. Flavor is resinous bitter. Palate is medium full and pleasantly soft but not flat with slightly stinging bitterness. Finishes with a long, heavy, dry and grapefruity bitterness. Nice and balanced APA with quite different aromas and flavors but still they work perfectly together.
