On a stop over in Baltimore we were hosted by an overwhelmingly hospitable man – Brian Strumke aka Stillwater. Getting hammered drinking his potions - made out of rice and corn - it was with a sense of inspiration that we drove of early in the morning to catch out flight back to Sweden. Nathalius is an imperial IPA brewed with rice and corn. However, fair and alluring as though she might seem this miss will whip you into submission.

Hazy straw yellow, medium sized white head, spotty lacing. Grapefruit bitterness heavily grainy and chalky. Medium to light bodied, lively carbonation, dry bitter finish.

On tap at Blue Monk. Decent but only serviceable IPA. Grapefruit taste, hoppy aroma.

Strong aroma is quite hoppy and has a firm yeasty overtone, very like a yeast cake or package. Pours a hazy, bubbly solar yellow with a thick eggshell head that leaves some good lacing. Flavor is hoppy and quite bitter and yeasty, with a hint of fruit. Hmmmmmm - rice and corn? Maybe that’s why it tastes rather differently from other Imperial IPAs I have sampled. Finish is hoppy, quite bitter - unfortunately, bitter in a nasty way - and quite yeasty. Not Omnipollo’s best, but give it a fair shake.

Bottle 330ml (Bierkompass)
Hazy orange color, small white head. Intensive bitter, "sweaty", piney aroma. Medium-bodied. Corn and rice are there with kind of sweet maltyness. Loads of grapefruit and resin. Extremely bitter with some fruity notes. Interesting!

POurs a cloudy dark yellow, frothy head, great lace. Pungent citrus aroma sweet grain undertones but pretty hoppy. Dusty yet fresh crisp. Lightly bready. Taste is ipa, kinda belgiany almost plenty of citrus grapefruit bitter, has a dusty weirdness I dont find too offputting. Like an earthy dirt/must. Drinks good, easy, strong bitter, grapefruit linger.Mellow sweetness. Not bad a little different than the average ipa, kinda belgiany/wheaty in a way. Not bad.

draft at Blue Monk, cloudy golden orange pour. medicinal aroma, vicks vapor rub aroma, menthol, peanut skins. Medicinal mouthfeel & flavor, peanut skins again, herbal, refreshens the mouth like mouthwash in a wierd way. Leave a neat numbing herbal feel. Interesting but no home run

En öl med många smakskiftningar, ganska neutralt första intryck. Viss fruktighet. Efter en stund går den loss med en rejäl efterbeska.

Bottle@home. Midt orange. Herbal grassy notes. Very strange tart resin bitterness maybe from black Rice!!! Very bitter finish. Challenging.

Bottle. Cloudy Yellow. Poured with a small head. Hoppy bitterness dominates. Medium body with some fruitiness. Resembles a bitter IPA. Rather Nice.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow body topped by a thick sticky frothy white head. Aroma is quite lovely, perfumey pine and sweet mango. The flavour is oddly chalky and powdery, extremely bitter, bordering on harsh. Peeking through this initial assault are some golden syrup sweetness and rustic vegetal notes. An odd concoction that can’t quite hold up to a well integrated final product. Having just had Stillwater Premium this weekend (the low ABV farmhouse style beer brewed with rice and corn-- the inspiration for this beer alluded to in the description), I approached this brew with a special interest. The Stillwater beer is far superior, even elegant, by comparison.
