kramer (1888), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 29, 2008 Growler, from brewery. Pours a slightly hazy orangish copper body under a small fizzy off-white head that disappeared pretty quickly. The nose is just lightly smoky, not as much as I like in my Smoked beers, but still fairly prominent. Some sweet toasted malt and cereal grains below. The flavor is much the same as the aroma, the smoke is light to moderate to me, yet I could see the average customer here might think it pretty radical. It’s quite clean, no off flavors at all noted. A little on the sweeter side for me, especially on the finish, which I have more of a problem with than the lack of smoke. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly thick texture and moderate soft fizzy carbonation. Overall, this wasn’t bad, but didn’t quite feed my Smoked appetite.
