3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BroSpud (1359) - , Massachusetts, USA - JUN 10, 2009
12oz bottle. This was a surprise. Awhile back I had purchased a mix pack of Opa-Opa that I wasn’t that thrilled so I wasn’t expecting much. But because of a good sale at my local I picked up a 6-pack of this and found that it is a pretty darn good IPA that I had never tried before. While nothing spectacular it is very well balanced and drinkable. Good beer to have on hand.

growler.
Middling clear copper color, thin fizzy off-white head. Muted nose of chewy bread malt with some notes of bitter citrus. Flavor starts with sharp citrus bitterness, notes of lemons and some light spicy pepper. Simple malt backbone of burst caramel and chewy bread. Well balanced though not much depth in the flavor. Palate is slightly on the creamy side with sharp carbonation and a nice finish. Decent IPA, though the weak nose detracts.

12 oz bottle-Bonus beer from a trade, but I’m not sure from who! Orange color w/o much head. Pine hop aroma. One dementional hop bomb, hops on the front, in the middle, & @ the end. I know some people like these, but I just don’t get them. Long, dry, hop finish; I wouldn’t drink this again
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 7, 2009
In short: An bland juicy pale ale (called an ipa) with no personality.
How: Bottle 12oz (as Opa-Opa Hop Express). Consumed very fresh a few days after purchase
The look: Partly cloudy golden body topped by a small persistent white head
In long: Shy nose of floral and citrusy hops. Light body with some caramel, wet bread and some biscuits. Hops bring a over-ripe citrus fruits and lots of fresh green grass feeling without much bitterness. Finish is juicy. This is a juicy beer with such a light malt backbone that to me it is more a Pale Ale than an IPA. No malt backbone/sweetness and no hops bitterness, but hey! on the positive side it is well balanced.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (8243) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 5, 2009
A golden IPA with a thick white head. A classy IPA aroma with light C-hops, floral and lightly resinous. In mouth, a good caramel malt with good c-hops, very floral, light menthol. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Inbièrenationale IV, May 2007.

Growler. Pours a rusty orange with a minimal head. Aroma of stale hops, vegtables and caramel/toffee. Bitter old hop flavor and some cereal grains. Nothing good about this other then a quick rating.

I picked up this "Hop Express" beer in Massachusetts at my cousin’s wedding. It is a smooth but potent hoppy-flavored brew, but not unique or overbearing. The bottle is cool looking, but I’ve never seen this beer anywhere else.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 elihapa (1487) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - JAN 25, 2009
Bottle. Pours murky brown-blond with a clear body and average head. Aroma, however, is quite pleasant: brightly floral, with grapefruit and soap. Flavor matches aroma: nice hoppy character throughout, malt plays second fiddle in this brew, allowing for a crisp and refreshing bitterness. A surprisingly tasty beer.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dchmela (2405) - Orlando, Florida, USA - DEC 27, 2008
Bottle picked up in Hartford. Pours a nice light amber color with a thick white head. Big citrus and pine aroma, quite nice. The taste is lots o hop bitterness with grapefruit and some grassiness and a little malt peaking through. Nice little IPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 boto (1661) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - DEC 15, 2008
Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours a clear, slightly orange amber color. Mine had no head on it at all. The aroma is mainly grapefruit hops. A faint bit of malts coming through. The taste was along similar lines. Mainly grapefruity hop flavor, with a decent bite. Pretty well balanced with a good malt backbone to it. Some maltiness comes through. Pretty decent.
