Bottle. Very dark brown with a modest but fine beige head that laces well. Aroma of leather, prunes, raisins, figs, licorice, chocolate. Rich, sweet and boozy with dried fruit, dark caramel, only a little chocolate, licorice/ anise. Dries out a little at the end, more than enough to avoid being cloying. Slightly syrupy with enough carbonation to lighten it. Good.

Bottle from Bir&Fud Bottega, Roma. BBE 10/2014. Hazy brown beer with a huge bubbly beige head. Aroma is very malty, belgian and hoppy. Flavour is sweet, malty and hoppy. Very drinkable and fresh palate despite the high ABV.

330 ml bottle in a Osteria in Bologna,Italy. July 20, 2014. Beer from a wine glass. Black in color with a beige head and medium carbonation. Beer straight from the fridge so it was a bit to cold in the beginning, but it slightly opens up when it gets warmer in my glass. Aroma is soy sauce, dark fruits, roasted malt, yeast and some spices. Tastes a bit sweet and malty and has a warming alcohol feeling. A slightly bitter finish.

Note di caffè, delicata. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhold

Bottle split at the Manny G tasting, from a trade with Luca in Roma, 28/06/14. Hazed mahogany brown with a good sized light tan covering of bubbles. Nose is dark fruit peel, tobacco, dark malt notes, spice, hint of ginger, leather, nutmeg, faint soap. Taste comprises dates, dark fruit rinse, spice, earthy, fruit cake, leather, nutty tinge, pipe tobacco. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light warming booze and a pinch of spice in the close. Decent enough Belgian Strong.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Colin. Pours hazy amber with a thick, creamy yellow-beige head. The nose has fruitcake, dates, toast, toffee. Medium sweet flavor with some earthy bitterness, more toffee, sugary fruits. Full bodied with average to lively carbonation. Sweet, warm finish with berries, grapes, bread, earth, toasty toffee. Not bad. Pretty tasty.
