COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle at home. Hazy light brown colour. A lot of fruity sweetness in the nose along with grains which reminds me of pasta. Slightly aromas of vanilla. Mild flavours but rich, with grapefruit, yeast, spices and some malt sweetness. Medium bitterness and somewhat a dry ending. A good tripel with nice flavours.

14/12/2011 La Tana (tap) & 330ml bottle @home. Ambrata, chiara, limpida, schiuma biancastra non molto persistente. Aroma intenso agrumato, erbaceo, floreale, lieviti, malto, note fruttate. In bocca ha un attacco tipico da tripel e un finale fortemente luppolato da IPA, raggiungendo un mirabile equilibrio. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Un delle migliori e più originali birre italiane.

I pour what I believe is a double IPA into the glass: a large head forms quickly and I have to wait before pouring the rest of the bottle. The medium amber body is initially clear, but when the creamy and rocky off-white head has reduced somewhat in size, and I pour the rest of bottle into the glass, lots of sediments have been whirled up giving a slightly hazy body with some large sediments resting at the bottom of the glass. The head stays big for quite some time, shrinking gradually to islands of dense foam and build-up at the walls, giving excellent lacing. Splendid aroma with some light malty elements, but the hops run the show: very refreshing, crisp and fruity aroma, with grapefruit and peach. There are also some other dominant elements that I just can’t pin-point… The taste is light to moderate sweet and heavy bitter, with a long-lasting heavy bitter finish. The flavours (and, I must confess, ratebeer.com) reveal that this isn’t a simple DIPA: in addition to the typical IPA notes of grapefruit, peach, resin and light caramel, the tripel elements are quite evident (especially after the beer has warmed up slightly): spices, yeast and honey. Now I understand that it was the typical tripel parts of this brew that I didn’t manage to pin-point in the aroma, since I believed that it was a DIPA! A bit disappointing that I’m that easily fooled… Anyway, with this knowledge, and after several sips, the beer grows exponentially on me. What a fantastic blend of tripel sweetness, spices and yeast and IPA bitterness and fruitiness! In addition the mouthfeel is simply fantastic, with a medium to full body, oily texture and rather soft carbonation. And the label design is lovely (yes, that matters!). I will definitely pick up another bottle of these again.

750 ml bottle. A lightly hazy pale amber beer, with a huge, frothy, rocky, strongly lacing, mostly lasting white head. The aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, grass, flowers, apricot), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of pepper and a touch of alcohol. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, very long finish with moderate to heavy bitterness, moderately alcoholic. Very interesting beer, It looks extremely good, large head, strong lacing, nice light haziness, and it smells good as well. On the hoppy side, but not "wildly" hopped as some straightforward IPAs/DIPAs. In the mouth it’s only lightly sweeter and boozier than expected, but after all pleasant. Very nice brewery.

.33l bottle from Domus Birrae in Rome. Belgian ipa. Ridic good, smooth hazy orange, thin rich white head. Great citrust-yeast nose, really reat. Orange fruitiness. Fantastic green hop, dry yeast bitter over citrus rich body. Great bite. Pretty incredible
