Vac (2184), San Diego, California, USA May 28, 2008 Bottle at tasting at Chris Fischer’s (from Liars Club) house. Pours with an amber body topped by a thin to medium thick head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a touch ofbread. Light to medium bodied, watery and smooth. jgb9348 (1793), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA May 27, 2008 Deep brown coloured body with a hazy tan head. Aroma of light spice, roasted malt, coffee and some nuts. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty flavour with potent pit fruit sweetness from grapes and prunes on top of nutty characteristics. Aftertaste shows some of the alcohol, a bit of the carbonation and some of the sweetness. Overall, a pretty good beer, but nothing entirely special from a Winter from Europe. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased on sale for US$3.99 from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 03-May-2008, sampled on 26-May-2008 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Crosling (1604), Loveland, Colorado, USA May 20, 2008 Bottle, Stockholm, Sweden. A dark brown beer with a full head. Hints of hazelnut and espresso cream in the fairly nice and expressive nose. Flavor shows some similarities, with sherry-like oxidation, and hints of coffee cream. A decent brew. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA May 17, 2008 Updated: May 18, 2008500 ml bottle from Winooski Beverage in Winooski, VT (May 2008) sampled at cellar temperature from a Samuel Smiths pint glass. A rugged, persistent off-white big-bubbled head crowns this translucent dark bronze/maple beauty, leaving thick lacing as it quite slowly disappears....interesting and strange aroma of caramel, vanilla, herbal/piney notes and some odd sweaty characteristics, overall more odd than anything, not unpleasant but not necessarily inviting either....smooth, full and rich body, nice malt extraction, a bit of smokiness and graininess towards the finish, tastes just a bit over the hill which wouldn’t be surprising really, hops are quite muted and dry, some piney/resinous notes show up with a bit of warmth....carbonation rather low and natural. Solid; I wish I could find an ESB or ESA this good available where I am for less than the $6 this sucker cost. Sammy (2969), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 17, 2008 Doesn’t look like much, laggerish light after initial foam.Somewhat cheesy aroma. The taste is somehwhat hoppy and refreshing. A natural casklike carbonation. Bit of light lemonlime aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel.
