3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap @ Nabokjelleren (Naboen), Bergen. Clear, deep orange body, medium foamy top. Nose is strong vanilla tones with hints of citrus, honey and spruce. Taste is quite original, starting off with a distinct grassy, grapefruit-like bitterness followed by some malty tones with notes of nougat. Or something a bit similar, at least. Traces of herbs - is it oregano? - in the aftertaste. A bit strange, and the various flavors seem to bounce into each other rather than compose anything substantial. Very different from other Amarillo-style IPAs I’ve had, and although this is an APA it’s still kinda weird. Not too bad, but definitely not my style.
