33cl bottle from a friend. Best before 2013-03. Batch A. Orange colour with a big white foamy head. Some carbonation. Aroma is fresh and hoppy. Lots of citrus and tropical fruits and some notes of bread. Flavour is also hoppy and laden with tropical fruits. Some bread in flavour as well. Medium bitterness. Long, lingering aftertaste. A wonderful beer.

Draft @ the Ale House, Amesbury, MA. Nose is popping with Amarillo hops. Flavors have a large amount of pale malts upfront followed by citrus fruits and lots of bread malt to make this brew sweet. After the huge hop aroma I was expecting some strong lingering bitterness. Just the opposite, sweet bread malt dominates. Leaning on the fuller side of medium in body. This is a quality drink. Very tasty.

From my Secret Santa 2012 Pours clear gold in color with a tall, three-dimensional off white head. Soft citrus hop aroma. The flavor is well balanced. Light bitterness that goes from the start all the way to the finish. Very solid APA, better than many IPAs.

Bottle via Santa, thanks fredrik_! Bottle pours a semi clear rose with nice white head. Aroma is very similar to hop slam from memory. Taste is red apple, sweet nectarine, apple peel and some slight bitterness at the end. Pear is very pronounced in the front of the taste as it warms. Really interesting APA that has as much flavor as I’ve ever had from an APA.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2012 Bottle @ Crooked Stave Zwanze Day 2012, sent to me by _angst_. Thanks again, Alex! Pours a fairly clear, dark golden appearance with an off white head. Nose is full of Amarillo hops- grapefruit, mango, pineapple, some resiny notes. Pretty fruity, easy drinking, mango, pineapple, just a bit sticky/resiny flavor. I would love to sit around a pub in Göteborg and chug this with the locals.

On tap at The Trappist. Pours copper with an attractive orange beige head and a citrus aroma. There is a very smooth caramel malt flavor with some fruit and lots of toffee. Nicely balanced with a great hop profile.

Pour at Zwanzee Day ’12. Thanks Aaron! Pour is clear orange with a small white head. Grapefruit, bread, biscuit, and orange in the aroma. Taste is light cardboard, grapefruit peel, citrus, cereal, and bread with a light bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Not bad but seems a bit old.

In short: A textbook example of a caramelized fruity resinous IPA. Good beer
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed fresh a few days after purchase from a Swedish Systembolaget
The look: Clear deep golden body topped by a medium beige head
In long: The medium intensity hoppy nose is fruity hops (mangos, grapefruits, lemon zest, apricots) with hops resin. Taste has a typical but always pleasant toasted caramelized malts, very clean body, not too much caramel, fresh baguette bready sensation. And of course a generous amount of fresh fruity hops (mangos, grapefruits, lemon zest, apricots) with medium resinous character and also some green pine-needles. Bitterness level is pretty high and it is a bit sticky/resinous, tasty but not super-refreshing. This is once again a Swedish textbook example of the style, and that’s how I’ll remember my pub crawling and bottle shopping in Sweden, lots of expertly brewed quality clean beers, textbook examples that do not “try anything”. Very good beer even though I’ve probably had 50 very similar ones before. Another good beer from Oppigårds, one of the most popular micro in Swedish, a country where 4 out of 5 people make up of vast majority of the population.
