From cask at Bishops Arms. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is fruity, toastedmalty and caramelish. Bitter, dark roasted malty, liqourice and breadish. Dark roasted and liqourice. Dry and dense dark malty finish. A bit to hot.

Cask at Bishops Arms Gustav. Pitch black coloured with a small beige head. Sweet and roasted aroma of licorice and smoke with burnt notes. Sweet and roasted flavour of caramel and licorice with notes of fruits. Roasted finish.

Draught@SBWF2012. Black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is berries, liquorice, some old smoked wooden notes as well as mild toffee. Flavour is liquorice, toffee, some ashes, mild alcohol as well as some raisins. A bit on the too sweet side for me.

Draught at SBWF. Opaque black. Aroma of licorice and crude oil. Sweet with full body and rounded oily mouthfeel. Sugar, coffee, syrup, licorice and molasses. Notes of tar and green apples too. Mid bitter heaty finish. Unpolished and sticky, not my cup of tea.

Bottle, bought @ Systembolaget, Hyltebruk. Pours deep opaque black with a medium, staying, creamy beige head. Aroma has lovely smoke, salty liquorice, roasted, dark chocolate. Medium carbonation, lovely dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good chocolate, light vanilla, quite smoky, very dry liquorice. Lingering, quite bitter and rather dry finish.

Sample at SBWF 2012. Black beer with a beige head. Malty milky aroma, chocolate, cocoa, cream, toffee notes. Malty licorice flavor, solvent notes, roasted, vinous, some alcohol, fruity, chocolate, some figs and raisins. A bit strange and not really what I expected.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 29 Sep 2012) Black colour with brief, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, coffee and cacao. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, cacao, vanilla and a generous chocolatey bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, smooth and rounded mouthfeel, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty. Very nice.
