3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml Bottle.
Dark brown color with a thick head. Malty smooth taste, almost sweet taste with fruity aroma. It has a great carry that makes you feel the taste for quite a while. Spring or Autumn warmer would suit it better then Winter warmer. =)

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
0.5l. Clear, dark copper with ruby tinges and a five-finger head that lasts forever. A bit of initial skunk fades to reveal a funky earthy-spiced malt and salty leather aroma that seems to have a hint of wild garlic as well! Raisin-molasses, winter-spiced caramel, spruce resin, dried wood, toasted nut, cocoa, apple, and crisp, bitter green herbs are some standouts among the medley of flavors. The medium body is smooth and finishes crisply dry. Excellent brew.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
2007 Bottle - Meh, light for a winter warmer, heavy for something year round, kinda in limbo. Malty and sweet, yeasty aroma, flavor is of bitter fruit and subdued coffee. Kinda metallic , average brew...

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
50cl bottle at home. Red/brown color with medium tan head. Sweet smell, with nuts and bread. Taste is bitter and a bit hoppy and a long bitter aftertaste. I’ve had several of these and under the right conditions this one is wonderful.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown colour with beige head. Refreshing and a bit fruity on the nose - hops, some dried fruits and liquorice. Flavour is mostly about the hops. Also some roasted malts with some dried fruits (without the sweetness). The finish is quite dry and bitter, The aroma was superior to the flavour.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lots of cascade in the nose. Taste also hoppy with a citric theme along with acidic apples and hops. A bit thinner than I would have liked it to be.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: Very drinkable earthy and nourishing English Ale.
How: Bottle 750ml. Tasting session with Montreal crew
The look: Almost clear copper body with a medium beige head
In long: Very pleasant nose of aromatic hops with a tea-like perfume. Really smooth mouthfeel with earthy butterscotch and honey. Some tree leaves and woody hops bring a nice bitterness. Very earthy. Body is fuller than usual for the style. Nice session ale. I usually expect a bit more punch from so called “winter beers”, must be the climate change.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin white head. Interesting aroma of herbs, spices and fruits. The flavor also has herbs, spices and fruits, but feels less interesting than the aroma. The body is light with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation.
