3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(16.9oz bottle from Total Wine Perimeter Atlanta, GA). Caramel aroma with nice amount of spice. Busy carbonation formed nice head but collapsed like a souffle.Taste is malty with some hop bitterness and spice was not too overwhelming like some winter ales. Medium bodied. My first Rate Beer rating and a decent beer to start.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear dark copper color with a mediumish head. Aroma with caramel malts and some hoppiness... pine, woody?. Taste of citrus peals.... grapefriuts, crispy and slightly dry. Some residual sweetnes from the malts. All together a very nice ale.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark ruby red. White head dissolved quickly. Smells wonderfully of bread then citrus. Taste of cocoa. Aftertaste of figs. I like this ale and would recommend it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, Systembolaget. As nice as ever, maybe it should have been a bit heavier considering the winter season.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I’m in no way any expert, but I think this beer has both a nice full smell and taste, as well as a nice amber color. A little bitter in the end, but not too much. (A very subjectiv judgement, I know, but this is my first rating and I hope to improve in the future.)

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Lacks spice and aromas found in most winter ales, no cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, cloves notes in the flavors or aromas.
Low ABV is not as warming as other winter ales.
There is a great hop flavor that is typically uncharacteristic of most winter ales, more bittering hops than aroma hops
This is also missing the malty sweetness found in higher gravity winter ales.
Overall this is a great strong ale, but not necessarily a great winter ale when compared to the typical styles of other winter ales.
