Ruby brown, clear, dense white head. The aroma is dominated by sweet, but roasted barley malt. The taste begins sweet and malty, but turns dry and bitter towards the finish. Although the body is relatively full vis-à-vis the ABV, the palate is surprisingly refreshing due to lively carbonation. Well-balanced winter beer!

Poured from bottle, clear dark amber with low off white head. Aroma is mild with notes of caramel, butterscotch, some citrus and herbs. Taste mildly bitter with a medium sweetness and a nice malt body. Nice bitter finish.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma:lovely malt, rich yeast, figs, bitter almond, Seville orange, vaguely cheesy & salt, sourish, wet cardboard, oatmeal, hot liqueur scent.
Appearance: clear, cherrycordial red, light beige head that appears good.
Flavour: initial sweetness followed by meaty full-bodiedness, mild bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste like toast. Fruity vanillanotes, nutty and hopbitter in a way that appears sourish. Very rustic. The hops appear more as the temperature rises. Proper beer.
Palate: very good, smooth, feels stronger than it is, not that much co2 - good.

Lots of cascade in the nose. Taste also hoppy with a citric theme along with acidic apples and hops. A bit thinner than I would have liked it to be.

500ml bottle into a shaker glass; served cold. Aroma: Pine needles, caramel, lots of hoppy bitterness. Appearance: Slightly hazy, deep mahogany body with a massive, creamy vanilla-white head. Medium+ visible carbonation. Superb lacing. Taste: First flavors I get are pine needles and moderately bitter hops, followed by caramel malt, a maple-esque sweetness. Full flavored and delicious! Palate: Medium body, low carbonation. Long finish that ends on pine-y hops. Slightly warms. Overall: A pretty fantastic winter ale! It reminds me of Christmas trees. Great stuff!!

500ml bottle. Dark brown/red with a nice creamy lace. Smells of licorice, herbs, cocca. Taste of coffee, citric notes, bread, nuts and metal. Quite refreshing and a nice kick of hops at the end.

Neeskens (328) - SWEDEN - DEC 16, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2011 Clear amber w a off-white head. Hoppy aroma with grass, pine, orange and some caramel. More off the same in the flavor but more focus on the grassy and caramel notes than the orange ones. Nice combo of good hops and malty body. A nice strong bitterness in the end. Some alcohol comes through as well.
